spinamum · 02/10/2006 20:43

Gosh. I hope so as I'm made and eaten a birthday cake smothered in the stuff.

Pretty sure it's cool.

SoupDragon · 02/10/2006 20:44

Of course you can!

carrotcake · 02/10/2006 21:07

No! Absolutely not, you must not eat buttercream all the way through, or suffer dire consequences... (only joking, I fancy some right now!)

Daisypops · 02/10/2006 21:07

Sorry Daisypops!!! only joked as I thought you'd been reassured by then, oops . Not fair of me, especially as I worry about every tiny thing, I think you might have it confused with creme anglais, that has raw egg in... sending you some cyber carrotcake now

Daisypops · 02/10/2006 21:21

Mmmm fanx Carrotcake! I had read the other posts but then read yours and thought OMG! I too worry about everything! I was even worried about sneezing too hard when I was in the 1st trimester!

Follow the nhs guidance. Ignore everything else.

@Meatball182 how did you find a 12 year old thread? 🤣

Perhaps you should start a new one...

I feel like we need a sticky thread with READ THE NHS PAGE as it’s title. Not because the nhs is the ultimate authority on safety but just because advice is always changing.

I have had quite a pregnant colleagues - first baby, these women are in their 20s. And yet their fretting over advice that is sometimes a decade old!! They’re still being told by friends and relatives that they mustn’t eat nuts, eggs, fish.

Or advice is interpreted badly - no dairy lea, no shady, mulled wine or liquor chocolates. 🤨

There is really very little pregnant women ‘cant’ eat if it’s prepared in their own home with sensible hygiene.
