Late pregnancy & not sleeping

Is anyone else getting this? Currently 37+4 and sleeping for 5-6 hours max a night, not counting wake ups to go to the bathroom. Im exhausted then during the day. I thought initially it was stress as it's going on for several weeks and work was busy, but that no longer applies.

Surely my body should be storing sleep for the arrival? Hmm

This happened to me too, DS is now 10 weeks old and I can't remember the last time I slept a whole night Hmm
You have my sympathies!

Sounds pretty normal. I am 39+2 and have managed 4.5 hours last night. I am now at the point of waking up and just being too mentally twitchy to relax again. Plus the physical aches and pains don't help but I don't even have those as badly as some people.

Yes, it is driving me mad! Currently 37+2 and waking up at 5am every day and can't get back to sleep. Combined with the regular wake ups in the middle of the night, I miss sleep!

Yep, 38+5 here and not been sleeping well for about a month. I'm on mat leave now, so I'm just resigning myself to 5-6hrs each night then having a nap in the afternoon - is that something you could do?

Chipandspuds · 25/10/2014 07:49

It's completely normal I'm afraid from everyone I've spoken to Sad I think the only thing to do is have a lie down in the afternoon and hopefully a nap so at least you're putting your feet up! I'm 35 weeks pregnant at the moment and having fantasies of sleeping in a hotel on my own for the night and waking up at 11:00am! DH and DS are waking me up not the pregnancy at the moment though!

TriciaMcM · 25/10/2014 08:01

Good to know I'm not the only one! Have a DD but don't remember this first time around. Have tried the nap in the middle of the day but don't actually sleep. I get a weird semi-conscious feeling instead.

DD is a bad sleeper still & I remember BFing in the early days meant even less sleep than I can manage now. Dreading dealing with 2 DCs who don't sleep. Although maybe the oxytocin will help me nod off (trying to be positive!)

I am 35 weeks and waking up a lot too, not for loo trips, seems to be for no reason at all. I am a bit achey and the baby is kicking a lot, but seems like a crazy reason to wake up at 1am and 4am and then get up at 6am...!

38+1 and last night had my best night sleep recently by abandoning lying on my side and just propping myself up with lots of pillows. Still didn't sleep through though. Although the stiffness/aches I usually have in the morning don't seem as bad.

I suspect naps may start happening soon though.

Despite the disturbances, newborn sleep is loads better than late pregnant sleep. Loads.
