Anyone had this?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yup. 2 Single pregnancies, then naturally and accidentally conceieved twins.

Unexpected, but wouldn't have it any other way of course Smile

Has it happened to you?

Beingfrank · 24/10/2014 22:20

Yes - two single pregnancies, then a miscarriage then id twins, why do you ask?

littleraysofsunshine · 24/10/2014 22:39

It hasn't. I just wondered that's all. Completely random I know, I have three small children and just thought it would be bonkers if our next pregnancy would be twins Grin

Well yes, it could happen to you! A friend predicted I would have twins (she had triplets herself) - and she was right, annoyingly! I also remember saying to dh that if he agreed to no 3, he had to be prepared for 4 because "it could be twins" - ha!

I thin that the older you get the more likely non-id twins are. Identical twins are a fluke that can happen to anyone at any time.

Haven't had this, but I am a product of this! Big brother is 3 years older than me and my lovely twin. Mum was 31 with bro and 34 with us. She helpfully tells us she never would have had 3 by choice. Thanks mum.

Yes me! 3 singleton pregnancies, then bam I get hit with twins lol. Really over the moon about it though :-) x

littleraysofsunshine · 28/10/2014 06:53

Wow! Does it have to run in the family? Or how far apart your children are? I have three small ones! Twins would be hard work but so lovely!

Obviously grateful for what we have. Just wondered who this has happened to!

My Mum had 3 DDs and then had identical twin DDs. Her Dad was an identical twin. Not sure how relevant that is tho not a sciencey person Grin

Fraternal twins runs in families, but as a pp said identical twins are just flukes. Ivf and genetics play no part.

Pisghetti · 28/10/2014 07:08

My dad has a twin sister. They were the youngest of eight children so 6 singletons then the twins. On my mother's side of the family my aunt had a singleton and then gave birth to twins within a year. That must have been fun - 3 under 1yrs old Confused

My other children are 23 months, 3 and 5, so pretty close together. Only twins in my family go back a few generations on my maternal grandad's side, so don't know if it's linked or not. X
