Torch screen tests

Hi,

Need some advice. I am currently 28+3 pregnant with twins conceived through ivf. They are in their own sacks (sorry don't know the technical term) but they were from two eggs.I have scans every 4 weeks due to carrying twins. On my last scan We were told that there was a bit too much fluid round twin one. It's within the safe limits but at the top end of the safe limit. They took some blood and my midwife texted today to say they are sending my blood off to Swansea for a torch screen test and the results say it could take 2 weeks for results. I've done the worst thing you could have done and googled it as didn't know what that is and am now having a stress. My midwife has told me not to worry but of course we are. Does anyone have any experience in this? Every ache and pain is now worrying me. After 3 cycles of ivf one miscarriage and before we started the final cycle the consultant said we only have a 5% chance of a successful pregnancy so these words are now ringing in my head more.

Thanks for reading

I don't know what that test is but wish you the best and you're already at a great gestation. Good luck. Flowers

I just had a torch screen test with ds2 the reason for the test was looking for an explanation for increased fluid
Torch screen was explained to me as just looking for any infection that may have caused increased fluid - even if it was something recent that had made me feel unwell
I also had gtc (blood glucose) test to check for diabetes as this could be another reason for increased fluid
3rd reason was they predicted a big baby (7lb 5 on growth scan at 36 weeks) born at 41 weeks weighing 9lb 6!
I guess it was the big babies need more fluid option in my case but hope it puts your mind to rest that it might not be anything to worry about

They said they didn't want to do s glucose test. I guess I'm going to have to just wait and see. I just hope it's all ok

I had a torch screen because one of baby's head measurements was very small. I also googled and absolutely terrified myself (we have a cat so I ended up convinced I had caught toxomasplosis, or however it's spelt). Anyway it was a Registrar that ordered the test, and when I subsequently saw a consultant there was a lot of eye-rolling about over-enthusiastic doctors trying to impress their boss. After a long week, the results came back clear, leaving me none the wiser about what's causing the wee head, but I suppose at least it's ruled out a few possible causes. Impossible not to worry, I will be fretting about this baby until it comes out now. Wish you all the best, I was told that if you've had a healthy pregnancy it's very unlikely anything will pop up on the torch screen.
