35 weeks- yellow-milk flowing?

Hello everyone, I did not know what to put as a caption for this lol but I was just wondering if anybody else at this stage (35 weeks) can get a "flow" from their nipples already? Obviously only when squeezed (or even leant on). If I slightly squeeze my nipple, I get a yellow substance pour out of them! I feel like I should be filling bottles already! Is this normal? Or do you think my body is naturally getting prepared for my baby's arrival? it just seems too early still.
Sorry if it doesn't make much sense. Confused

Yes it is normal, your body is making colostrum (the first milk) already. This is great for baby as it will be ready for when they arrive. I had colostrum earlier than that with dc3.

It does make sense! It's colostrum. Seems a waste to just let this magical stuff soak into a breast pad or tissue but your body will make plenty more when your baby comes.

I thought so, I just wasn't sure as I looked up colostrum and it was described as a clear substance, whereas mine is as yellow as yellow could be lol. So even though I'm producing so much of it now, the baby will still get enough when she arrives?

Yes you will keep making it, it's not like there's just a fixed amount stored up. And with the milk when that comes in, most is made during the feed on demand (after the first few weeks anyway, when many people have too much).

My colostrum was definitely yellow and not clear. Smile

Oh yes, mine too.

isambardo · 24/10/2014 16:43

Yes, my colostrum is also bright yellow. It does get called 'liquid gold' too.

Don't squeeze too much or you might start labour!
