Should I be more pushy?

So I thought my waters had started to go earlier, I felt a bit of a gush when I sat down for a wee. I actually even had a look with a mirror and saw some coming out and there was more when I coughed Blush
It definitely wasn't wee. There was also a little bit of watery blood when I wiped.
I've also started being more crampy this morning. I assume they're not proper contractions as I'd be in more pain but they do take my breath away.

Called community midwife who said I should call hospital and get an appointment. Hospital told me to put a pad on and call back after two hours. I did that but because I hadn't soaked a pad they pretty much said no, it's just vaginal discharge just keep an eye on it.

I'm really not convinced its just discharge...I don't know what to do, I'm very aware of not wanting an infection.

How far along are you? If you are full term, you can afford to wait it out a bit longer. It certainly sounds like waters to me but I think that the wait-and-see if fine for a few more hours. I bet contractions will start soon if it was your waters. It's 24 hours after waters breaking when they start to be concerned about the risk of infection, you could always track your temperature if you're concerned. I know it's easier said than done but keep moving around and try to take your mind off it, things will move quicker if you are relaxed, if you become stressed or upset, everything starts to slow down.

If you think your waters have broken I would go to the hospital to be checked today. It won't take them long to find out and better safe than sorry.
Ring them back and tell them you are coming in.

I'm 38 weeks so I'm not concerned from that point of view.

I'm trying to watch TV and have a little potter about.

What does tracking temperature do? Is that to check for infection?

Thanks for your reply!

When my waters went it was a huge gush and pop and contractions came straight away.
My cousin had virtually no waters so she didn't know hers had gone. Everyone is different. You could also wait a bit and see how your cramps progress this afternoon then ring.

Yeah, thank you. I'll see how I go in a bit and call them back later x

I think at 38 weeks you are probably okay to wait and see if it progresses to labour (I am not a doctor or hcp in any way so this is just my opinion) I would say though that if you think you are in labour then be as pushy as you need to to be taken seriously and don't hesitate to go to hospital if you think labour is progressing and contractions are getting more regular even if they tell you not to.

Good luck, hope all is going well for you.

Ok, I'm just gonna wait it out. Think I'm having contractions now so I've started timing them.

Might go for a walk coz if it's just braxton hicks being painful that should see them off

Lula Good plan. Hope this is really it for you :-)
That's right, tracking temperature for signs of infection.

I had a tiny amount of waters with DS and huge amount with DD when they broke. It is always different. But good luck with the pains being contractions and not BH! Smile
