No to lemsip
Lockets- might be something to do with the sweetner in them

Oh I have had a cold for the past 4 weeks every day i am snotty and look vile. I want nothing more than a lemsip to clear my hear haha if you find another solution let me know! :)

If i remember correctly Lockets aren't medicated, so are perfectly fine, like soothers and halls. You can't have the medicated sore throat sweets though.

Instead of lemsip, go for the traditional method of lemon squash, honey and hot water - its nice and works pretty well.

Make your own with lemon juice, honey and hot water. You could grate a bit of ginger in too if you like it. And it's fine to have paracetemol which may help. Also inhale a bowl of steam with a towel over your head - you could ask an aromatherapist for drops to put in the steam, I got something with rosemary which was nice, but some things are unsuitable in pregnancy so check first.

I had the same concerns about halls soothers but my nurse told me they were fine. I then read the ingredients and it is just sugar really - I think it's equivalent to eating a fruit pastille... at least I hope so as they are offering me some little relief!

Lemsip is a no as it contains decongestants (same as Sudafed, Nightnurse and own-brand equivelents). I can't see what would be wrong with Lockets, Halls Soothers etc though.

DanyStormborn · 23/10/2014 15:10

and yes you can have paracetamol - it might not de-congest you but it will make you feel a bit better
