Hi ladies.
I'm looking for somewhere to read a bit more about vaccinations in pregnancy (flu and hooping cough). I like to know what I'm doing before just going ahead with it because it's the norm.
I personally haven't had a flu or been ill (other that the odd cold) since 2004.

Hello, here are some patient information leaflets that summarise all of the available scientific information on the flu and whooping cough jabs in pregnanacy, including whay they are recommended, even in those who are well. Hope this helps :)

I don't want to start a debate or sway your decision - it's good that you want to be informed by reading up on the vaccines. But just because you've never had flu doesn't mean you're any less likely to catch it, and the whooping cough vaccine is intended to protect your baby in the weeks before he/she is old enough to have their own vaccine. Very young babies simply aren't strong enough to fight off the infection.
Regardless, I applaud your intention to inform yourself! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy Smile

Here are links to the NHS pages on it, which explain why they recommend them (indeed pay for them) for pregnant women:

I don't really know much about the vaccines. I have had both this pregnancy, am having c section tomorrow.

I don't normally get ill but have had pneumonia in this pregnancy so was up for anything that might help to stop me from getting ill.

Great. Thanks everyone. Just want to make an informed choice. And thanks for clarifying that it's spelled whooping cough, not hooping hahaha. I'm Danish and just spelled it how it sounds (to me anyway) ????

I've got DH to have the flu vaccine too, to minimise the risk of any of us bringing flu into the house when our baby is tiny.
