DS1 Forceps DS2 EMCS DS3 ELCS DC4 - ?

I have just got a BFP for DC4 - would it be a given to have an ELCS ?

Previous DC:
DS1 - 7lb 6oz Failed Ventouse - eventual forcep delivery

DS2 - 8lb 13.5oz - EMCS after failed induction - Head Not Engaged so no dilation

DS3 - 10lb 7.5oz - ELCS at 39 weeks - (head didn't engage here either)

I would prefer an ELCS because I had a great experience with DS3 and don't want to work myself up over a VBAC unnecessarily IYSWIM.

thanks

I think it's your turn for a normal vaginal delivery!

Bellyrub1980 · 21/10/2014 18:53

But they'll offer you a c section right??

Mexicantortilla · 21/10/2014 19:53

Hi, similar here
DD1 cs after failed induction
DD2 cs after failed induction
DD3 ECS
DS4 due in Feb, I asked about VBAC/trial of labour - consultant burst out laughing! Confused

I think if you've already had 2 c sections they would recommend an ELCS unless you had really strong views otherwise, so you should be ok :)

Pretty sure you wouldn't be encouraged to have a VB after two sections. And I don't think it would be a good idea either!

Have similar experience, but further down the numbers...
DC1 induction, NVD
DC2 same again
DC3 same again
DC4 EMCS after prolapsed cord
DC5 ELCS, lovely experience
DC6 - this will be an ELCS. My consultant will not allow a VD after 2xCS. If he did, he would let me choose, and I would choose the CS!!

Congrats on DC4.

For me DD1 was long induction, forceps and episiotomy at 42 weeks. She was 9lb 1.

ELCS at 37 + 2 for DTDs (6lb 12 & 6lb 10), mainly had an elective due to the after effects of DD1 birth rather than twins and really didn't want an induction which was my other option.

DC4 I'm scheduled for an elcs next month at 39 weeks, my consultant was fine, I just stated I'd prefer an elcs rather than a vbac and it was booked in there and then (20 weeks). Even all the midwives I've seen agree that elcs is my best option, I've never been close to going into labour naturally and they think it highly unlikely I'll start this time. The risks of induction post one CS are higher than another CS.

Good luck hope your consultant is as understanding as mine was.

Brilliant thanks. I don't need to unduly worry it seems.

Mexicantortilla - burst out laughing Shock That's awful.

I did have an idea of having a VBAC with DS3, however, when they said he was going to be big and his head still not anywhere near engaging I said OK to the ELCS and had a wonderful experience.
