My little girl is due a week before christmas and I'm praying she arrives either early or on time. I just want so much to have her with us for christmas, and I don't want to be disappointed if she's late, but what are the odds? Plus I don't want to be heavily pregnant all through christmas and be worrying about turning up at the hospital and them being short staffed or something!

Plus it's gonna be bad enough for her having a birthday so close to christmas, without it being after all the main excitement.

First child arrived 3 days early

Dawnybabe · 03/10/2006 16:27

Seems to be fairly even so I think I've got a 50/50 chance! Stefallie says go by what your mother had. I can't remember her saying and I can't ask her now unfortunately, but I do know she was in labour with me for 30 hours!

ds1 due date
ds2 10 days late .... would not recommend!!!!

YellowFeathers · 03/10/2006 16:33

Well my dd was 4 days late but I had some reflexology on the 3rd day and since then was convinced it was that, that kicked things off
but
ds was 10 days late. Tried everything to get labour going but no such luck!

They arrive when they want to, although I'm sure you've heard that a million times already.

iamapieceofcheesecake · 03/10/2006 16:38

Ds was born at 38 weeks, his cousin was born later than due date...
...and another cousin was born on her due date!
They were all born within 3 months of one another.

Piffle · 03/10/2006 16:41

1st 2 weeks late
2nd 2 weeks early

flutterbeehatinghalloween · 03/10/2006 16:42

DS was due December 18th last year and was born November 11th, so roughly 6 weeks early and my waters broke 2 weeks prior to that but they let me go on because it was riskier for him to be out that in.

Good luck and get everything ready because you just don't know when it will happen, also and I know its difficult try to forget about it and enjoy your baby free time.

trinity2 · 03/10/2006 16:54

dd was due on the 27th December and I had to be induced on the 11th January. I wanted her to be early for Christmas to. But, its not so bad being big and pregnant for Christmas at least you can get other people running around after you all day and you have a very good excuse to slope off and have a nap if everyone gets a bit boring.

What we do now for her birthday as its just after Christmas she has two birthday her actual birthday, she only gets a little present and celebration and her summer birthday in July which she gets lots of presents and we have a big party. She loves it.

Best of luck hope everything goes well and you have a good birth and also a lovely Christmas. X

RockyHorrorStinkyShow · 03/10/2006 22:33

first - 14 days late
second - 10 days late

mamamaaargh · 04/10/2006 00:48

DS was nearly 3 weeks early (as was I).

My bday is December 20th & it's not so bad - lots of xmas parties and people feeling festive and wanting to go out at that time of year so people are always happy to have a birthday do too. When I was little, most people made a point of getting me separate xmas & bday presents. Only time that didn't work was as a teen with stingy friends!

All these stats they give us in booklets and at consultations. They will come outta there when they are good and ready.x

colditz · 04/10/2006 00:57

Dawnybabe · 04/10/2006 15:49

Thanks to everyone that has contributed. I need to sit down and count them all up and take an average! And thanks to mazzystar, flutterbeehatinghalloween and trinity2 for their support. I guess I really can't worry about it and might as well just get on with worrying about the hours of pain instead! Only kidding. I do like the idea of being pampered all through Christmas though....
