Big boobs & small back - Maternity underwear / swimwear nightmare!!

Hi,

I am 18wk prego with DC2. I am of a small ish frame but with big boobs. Pre pregnancy I was a 28/30 F. Now I am approx a 32 G. Because I have a small back I am getting back ache wearing my oh so attractive materity (non wired) bras from last pregnancy. I went to M&S on Saturday and could find nothing suitable in my size (non wired)

A few q's - I have heard it's OK to wear undewired as long as it fits correctly. I personally think I need the support as the non wired is so uncomfortable and my boobs feel so heavy I think I am going to be crippled. Anyone know if this is OK??

  • Maternity swimwear in bra sizes. I don't want to wear a bikini anymore. I have one from last time around (32 GG!!!) which I am wearing for now but it's a bit big and I am not in as good shape this time around so feel very self conscious in it. Anyone found any bra sized swimming costumes or Tankinis for maternity anywhere? Or just anyone in a similar size that can recommend something?

Thanks

Bravissimo or Debenhams are the only shops I can buy from I am a 32ff at the moment. I think under wire is fine to wear

I went to bravissimo and House of Fraser, and both were excellent at recommending softer wired bras. I'm now wearing them a year later, I was kind of hoping to have gone back to my regular size, but at least I've got some nice underwired bras.

I had maternity and feeding bras from bravissimo in 28ff, they'll sort you no problem.

Debenhams do a good range of sizes too.

It's okay to wear underwire as long as the bra fits correctly.

Yes, underwired is fine as long as it is correctly fitted - just make sure you keep an eye on it and adjust as necessary. It's only ill-fitted underwire that puts pressure on the breast tissue itself that can cause problems, as far as I'm aware Smile

I was a 32F/G in pregnancy and only wore well fitting underwired. Anything else and I looked and felt dreadful.

The M&S woman made me cry when she accused me of being vain and selfish for not wanting to look like a giant floppy blob of boob Sad

Try hotmilk, they have bras with soft underwiring which give a bit more support than anything else I have tried. I am usually a 30 back size and the smallest they do is 32, but there are 6 sets of hooks on mine so nicely adjustable.

Thanks a lot, will try all these and try to get a fitting booked too.

Any advice on swimwear? That's the bit I am really finding tricky as there don't seem any bra sized options at all!

Definitely Bravissimo. I went there yesterday and they were really excellent.

They also do swimwear (I've had a bikini from there before). It's not the cheapest place but they really know their stuff. I hate bra shopping but I actually didn't mind it there!

Panache do a great nursing bra which is fine for maternity wear. I would say they're small in the sizing. I wore a 28F. Most others don't go down to even a 32 back Hmm

Oh sorry just seen you want wired Blush
