What to take when going in to premature labor?

So I posted the other day after cramps and bleeding and the doctors said I was 1cm dilated and gave me medication to prevent labor with the warning that it may not work. I was sent home and put on bed rest.

This is my first child and I was planning to do all the maternity bag packing etc at like 35 weeks and that's 10 weeks away! I have literally no idea what to take, I know I won't be needing baby clothes or anything like the usual necessities

On a side line the labor and bleeding seems to have stopped. Im packing just Incase and because I feel like I know my body and that it probably will happen. I have lost my plug already and I'm having period like cramps daily so I don't hold much hope

Pack the bag as you would anyway, you need cotton wool and tiny prem baby nappies, sainsburys do good ones. Kindle and charger for you, lots of waiting around on scbu, hand cream, lots of antibacterial dries out your hands. Slippers, dressing gown , own towel. If you have any little baby hats they are good.

Good luck op, hope baby can stay put a bit longer for you.

Oh I didn't think babies could wear clothes when they where born as early as 25 weeks? I haven't got any family near by as I live out of my hometown so won't have any support till my mum can get down which will be a few days after I give birth so want to pack everything I need now x

I wouldnt worry too much about clothing as they tend to either wrap if very prem and have heated incubators with loads of equipment attached which makes dressing impossible.

The only thing we could provide were tiny hats but the hospital had loads to choose from and ours ended up in their basket because they wash everything so frequently.

Nappies are also pointless if very prem so pack everything for your comfort, and normal things like camera, snacks and bits and bobs.

We were allowed to put one tiny soft toy in with Ds but it had to be washed at 60 degrees first.

Goodluck and i hope the drugs work, my Waters broke very early with DD1 but they managed to keep her in for 6 weeks using drugs. Unfortunately it didnt work when i had DD2 or Ds but it does prove there is a chance of going weeks before labour kicks in.

Echo what others say you won't need anything for the baby right now. My dd was at 2 hospital SCBU wards and both provided clothes one needed. Also until big enough for the size 0 nappies they also provided. Good luck and hope your labour holds of for as long as possible.
