Hi.
Today, for the past 3 ish hours I've had what feels like constant braxton hicks. They are mildly painfull, take my breath away a bit, walking, sitting, full bladder, empt bladder, moving doesn't help them at all. This is my 4th pregnancy and I don't want to worry and call the midwife about every little thing. Is there such a thing as too many braxton hicks, I can't say it's regular as once it stops I'm geting another pretty much straight away. And help please? Xxx

Mmm, how far through are you? "Takes your breath away" is exactly the phrase my midwife used when we were talking about when BH might be turning into something more. I have been having lots of them since 16 weeks so asked her when I should pay attention to them.
You're not doing anything particularly exerting are you? If so sit down for half an hour and see if they subside; mine are always worse when I'm doing something physical (even gettingn up off the sofa...)

I had this twice this week, and both times I took paracetamol and had a warm bath and they stopped. If after a bath and tablets they were still going, my plan was to then ring the hospital.

It would help if I put how many weeks lol. I'm 27 weeks and 1 day.
I'm not exerting myself....well actually I was walking around a zoo with my 3 year old when they started, I've been home for 2 hours and sat on the sofa and they haven't changed. My belly is solid where as it's usually squishy.
Hmm ''takes me breath away''....worrying a little about your midwife saying that. Maybe I should call her for advice. She always takes an hour or 2 to phone me back so I'll call, have a bath, take some pain relief and see what happens.
Thanks xx

If you are still having this after the bath, call your Pregnancy Assessment Unit - number in your Maternity Notes - and explain. They will ask you to come uin and monitor you.

I had contractions at 32 weeks and went inand had meds to stop me going into labour plus steroid injections to strengthen the babys lungs incase they couldnt stop the labour.

Take your labour bag just incase, as the drugs needed to be administered iver a 24 hour period so I had to sleep in.
