Pregnancy sick leave - attendance review?

I'm currently on sick leave due to pregnancy related problems. I've been off for four weeks so far.

Work have just let me know that they will be inviting me to an attendance review to discuss this.

I know pregnancy related absence should be recorded separately to regular sick leave. Can work ask me to attend a meeting? Due to my sickness it will be quite difficult for me to get to there.

No they can't!!
They can't even make you feel awkward or uncomfortable about being sick, and this is extra stress for you

Google pregnancy sickness support. The website has legal advice on it so I was told yesterday when I phoned them. X

Def don't start your maternity leave at 29weeks as u will want it after baby is born you don't have to be off til 36weeks on mat leave if unwell and even if working til more than 36weeks it has to be pregnancy related sickness for them to enforce mat leave not a cold/cough or stomach bug for example

Thanks everyone. I have good sick pay. I think it is full pay for 6 months.

I think one of the main reasons I was thinking of starting maternity leave early was because I find the whole sick leave thing so stressful. I hate having to phone them every couple of weeks. Last time I called they made me feel so guilty, saying how awkward it was making things for them. But 6 weeks extra maternity leave is a lot to lose just to avoid te stress, so maybe you are right.

It is not right them saying it is making it awkward for them. Can you get longer sick notes so not contact them so often. Do you have to speak to them - could you not post the notes in? As at review record all their comments about you making it awkward for them - with an advocate present to witness.

It is bang out of order them saying it's making it awkward for them!! You said you're in the union, have you spoken to them yet? This is just what they're for, to mediate between you and your boss. I'd call them and let them know a) about the review and see what they recommend, and b) about the guilt trips when you call in to let them know about sick note extension. They should be able to contact your boss (or your bosses boss) and feedback about the inappropriate behaviour.
Don't allow yourself to be bullied into missing out on mat leave.
So annoyed on your behalf! Confused

Glad you've got proper sick pay. I'd get the union on it.

Since they are taking the "awkward" tone with you then I'd Also roll this year's holiday over to next year- no point taking hol if you aren't well enough to enjoy it. Again if you are not confident doing this then get your union on the case.
