Saw the consultant today @ 25 weeks and now I'm utterly petrified of both elcs and vbac!
Chance of internal damage if elcs and chance of scar rupturing in vbac, the consultant also mentioned stillbirth when discussing vbac which has really scared me..... Now I don't know what to do..... Ahh help?
Dd1 was breech so no choice with first birth, I would almost prefer that this time round!

hi, I'm maybe not the best person to be giving 'advice' as our first baby is due in December... but from a medical point of view, here's a couple of things that might help put your mind at ease.

Remember the doctors and surgeons have to tell you the risks, regardless of how slight they are. There are risks with everything, childbirth, every surgery, any medication... nothing is risk free - even making a cup of tea!

Secondly, us doctors are often logical and methodical creatures, probably our greatest strength and our greatest weakness. We often don't realise how frightening things come across to our scared and worrying patients. Can you give your consultant a call and arrange another chat? Or your midwife? Be honest with him/her about your worries and fears and I'm sure they will do everything they can to reassure you. :)

Hiya Newmom2b,

I had a section with my first one as he was breech and the ECV (yuk) didnt work. I then, like you had to have consultant led care with no 2. She sat breech till 36 weeks and then turned. I ended up going into labour at 40+6 and midway during my labour i had a huge bleed and had like 3 consultants there within minutes. Turns out i had just gone from 4cm to 10cm super fast. Little tinker then got herself stuck on her way out and had to have forceps. but was out of hospital the next day.
As Katiegee says, they have to tell you the risks as that is part of their job.
Whatever you decide there will be lots of people around you to make sure you and baby are ok. If you go for a elcs, you know their are like 12 people surrounding you making sure all is fine, but there is the hospital say and recovery time after. If you go for a vbac there is a chance your scar could rupture but as i said people are there ASAP if there is any slight sign.
Im now 36+1 with no 3 and going for a normal VB again. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan this time.
If your really worried about it make an appointment to go and talk to your MW about it. That is what they are there for and will give you all the support you need to make a decision.

I'm 38+3 and hoping to VBAC. I can highly recommended joining the VBAC Support Group UK on Facebook and if finances allow hire a Doula for additional support

The FB group has been an amazing source of information and advice and even if I have to go through another caesarean I know now that I can request a 'gentle section' and won't be so terrified of the surgery

Good luck!
