Hello.

I found out I was (unexpectedly) pregnant last Tuesday. A clearblue digital on Wednesday said 1-2 weeks.

On Saturday morning I started spotting brown blood with some red spots/streaks through it. I've had some very mild cramping/aches and mild backache but I had that before I found out too.

Spotting continued on Sunday (yesterday) but was even lighter. I haven't needed a pad at all, I did wear one on Saturday and Sunday but there was absolutely nothing on either one at the end of the day. Blood was sort of mucusy only ever there when I wiped, never anything on my pants.

Today I haven't had the slightest bit of spotting. Haven't worn a pad at all.
I took a pregnancy test at about 2:30-3pm and it was a faint but clearly positive result.

Does this sound like a miscarriage? I can only estimate how far along I was/am by going by the clearblue digital as I was on cerazette. I had a stomach/vomiting bug which I believe caused the pill to fail.

What do you think?
Thank you x

It could be implantation bleeding (caused by the fertilised egg burrowing into the lining of the uterus). I had pretty much what you are describing but at more like 5-6 weeks which is too late for implantation bleeding but everything was fine. I would give your midwife a call (if you have one yet, if not let your GP surgery know you are pregnant and they will probably set up a telephone appointment with a doctor) to discuss it. It's too early for a scan (6-7 weeks is the earliest) and they will probably tell you to just keep an eye on the volume and call back if it gets worse but it is worth telling them.

Thank you for replying. I don't have a midwife yet but I saw a nurse on Friday who wants to test my wee to confirm! I took a sample down first thing yesterday for them. I have to ring Thursday or Friday for them to tell me. I did a test myself yesterday so I'm guessing they'll tell me it's positive. Probably the best thing is to request a blood test to see the hcg levels and then repeat to see an increase/decrease.

I'm not bleeding at all today again, so really hoping that a drop in symptoms everything's ok. I now only have tiredness, a little nausea and tingly boobs.

Fingers crossed. :)

That despite a drop in symptoms...

Sorry I'm skipping words!

The best thing to do also if if you have stopped bleeding do a pregnancy test again if it was something serious it would show you not to be pregnant, alot of people bleed and alot of the time it is nothing, you should be able to tell by your own body if something is seriously wrong.
I had cramping and aches and pains from around 4 weeks but no bleeding it normally implantation and your womb stretching.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you all is well x

It's really scary because bleeding in pregnancy can mean anything or nothing.
I am currently 15+3. I had brown spotting on the day my missed period was due. And cramps (I took a painkiller thinking my period was imminent. It never came). I also had painless spotting at six weeks. I've just had a large painless bleed at 13.5 weeks and had three scans, each showing normal baby.
The sight of blood is terrifying as you think that's it but not necessarily. I googled the subject to death the past few weeks and tonnes of women bled, even heavily, and were ok.
See your midwife or the EPU asap. Hope everything is ok.

Thank you for replying :)

I did test positive yesterday on a hpt, I'll be testing again before the week is over.
It's so odd because I never had anything like this in any of my other successful pregnancies, and with my precious mc it was heavy red bleeding from the start, not like this at all. I too have googled and googled! Really crossing fingers and toes here, but if it's not to be then it's not to be. I'll find out one way or the other. Seeing blood is just so scary.

Thank you for everyone's replies.

It's over, I tested negative today. Definitely miscarried.
