I have a thread in chat about being admitted last thurs night as I was having 'tightenings' and subsequently had a positive test on the hormone swab thingy that I can't spell! I was discharged the next day after having the steroid jabs as a precaution in case I did actually go into labour.

I'm 33 + 3 now and I had to go up to the ward again. I was put on the monitor again and it did show quite a few peaks and troughs of 'tightenings' again.

The dr said that if I do go into labour now they won't try to stop it. I'm a bit anxious as to what to expect from now on and I wonder if anyone's experienced anything similar?
I'm at home as I live a 5 min journey from the hosp. This will be my second DC.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there, ds1 was born at 33+5 after a placental abruption. He was a healthy 5lb2oz! Had a little jaundice (common for prem), had trouble maintaining body temp (also common) and had to learn to feed since sucking only develops late in preg. He also came out not breathing, but only needed help for 20 mins via a tube. I found this quite distressing though- he was just whipped away from me! Main issue was learning to breastfeed which was a struggle. Staff at neonatal were excellent. He stayed in hospital for 4 weeks while he learnt to feed and regulate his temp. Generally they like to keep them in until actual due date or at least 38 weeks. It was hard going and wouldn't wish a premmie on anyone... Developmentally they go by adjusted age for first year. That being said he has had no subsequent health issues at all!
