I went for a visit and a scan last week, dd2 is growing nicely and moving around like mad. However after an internal, the MW said that I have to start taking it easy, limited walking, using stairs and no lifting heavy things, as it could bring on an early labour Shock

Is this really serious? I'm quite worried now...

Well, it certainly doesn't sound good.

Did the midwife suggest any plan other than bed rest? Like a consultant appointment?

No, nothing, only to take it easy.
I'm not really sure what to do now. I feel really well, no bed rest at the moment, however she said that if the situation is the same in a few weeks time, then bed rest.
I didn't know that these symptoms are those of preparing for labour,.
Does it mean that I'm at serious risk of having a premature birth?
I feel quite naive and uniformed. Sad

It would be difficult to tell without a scan to see what the part of the cervix near the baby is doing. Od phone the consultant and see what they say. Also keep an eye out for slight spotting, which can be a sign that the cervix is starting to open.

She can't leave things like that! You need a scan, a consultant appt and a plan of action. If you do have a shortening cervix, they can put a rescue stitch in to give you a greater chance of making it to term. I'm not sure if you can even tell cervical length from an internal though, so I wouldn't panic just yet. But certainly don't just take her advice, insist on a referral.
