This might sound stupid..
Tonight DH made tea- a rare occurance
This was at about 5pm. For the past 40 minutes I have had awful stomach pains and really bad diarrhea. I feel sick and just generally crap
I've also had a really bad cold all week but doesn't feel related to that! How do I know if it's food poisening and what do I do?!

Also he's finding this hilarious that I'm doubting his cooking skills !

How far along are you? Upset tummy is always a sign of impending labour for me.

gruber · 12/10/2014 19:36

How many weeks are you? I had a very bad bug at 34 weeks - diarrhoea, stomach cramps like you, vomiting. Hospital wanted me in to check me out as it could have been early labour. Do You have a midwife/birth centre number you could call for advice? If just one bout of d & v it may be food poisoning... Hard to tell really!

cantkeepmyoldname · 12/10/2014 19:37

What did you have?

Some cases of FP can strike straight away others might not strike for up to 72 days!

What was tea this is important btw

34 weeks! It's come on so suddenly in the past hour I got out of a relaxing bath and feel awful

Diarrhoea I think is usually from the meal before the last one you ate, because of the time it takes to get food through! So, if it's something you've eaten then it would be lunch. But as the other poster said, if you're at term then it could well be labour ...

Firstpregnancy2014 · 12/10/2014 19:38

And it was sausage and mash.. I feel awful for doubting him just seems like a huge coincidence that I'm suddenly this ill

I'd call your midwife if you're 34 weeks. Ask if you could be checked out, explain what's going on- it is a sign that labour is starting, and if you are only 34 wks they may want to give you an injection for baby's lungs if it is labour.

woodwaj · 12/10/2014 20:04

Id presume immediate vomiting would be food poisoning not diarrhea. Plus if it was that bad id expect your oh to get ill as well. Id say unrelated but worth getting it checked out if it doesnt pass soon

Jaffakake · 12/10/2014 20:54

I threw up during labour & diarrhoea can be a sign of labour too. I'd get it checked out.

What food did he cook you for tea? Some things are very unlikely yo give you food poisoning.

Jaffakake · 12/10/2014 20:56

Sorry, just saw - sausage & mash. The sausages would have to be badly kept, seriously out of date or undercooked.
I doubt mash can give you food poisoning.

Firstpregnancy2014 · 12/10/2014 20:59

DOH! Didn't even think that DH would obviously have it too!
I've been sick twice in the past hour- reminded me of my awful morning sickness days.
Called the maternity ward that told me to see how I get on over the next few hours and if I have any pains or can't keep water down To go in! Hadn't even thought of the possibility of labour

I agree with others saying to phone your midwife. An upset tummy can be a sign of things getting kicked off, so it's better to know if that is what is going on. They won't mind at all - midwives always say it's better for you to get checked out just in case there is something they can do to help you. Also agree that you are unlikely to get food poisoning from sausages as long as they were in date, stored correctly and cooked properly. Mash I'm sure would be fine.

cruikshank · 12/10/2014 21:02

Oops xpost. Good on you for phoning them. At least they'll see you if you get no better.

It might just be a tummy bug!

woodwaj · 12/10/2014 21:09

I hope it stops for you it doesn't sound good!!
