Have been told not to worry by the midwife but have also read some interesting methods of getting the baby to turn.

One person advised me to put an ice pack on the top of my bump to make the baby want to turn over!! I'm a little worried about giving it brain-freeze

Also, has anyone got experience of anything that actually works? At the moment I feel pretty silly on all-fours swinging my hips from side to side - but am doing it just in case...

Thanks

my dd1 was breech at 35, in fact up to 38 I think, but I persevered with the hip swinging and she turned eventually.
I have never heard of the ice pack thing though.

to early to worry. Ds turned at 37 weeks, and delivered at 38.
you can also try
crawling
yoga - cat pose
watching telly/reading leaning over birth ball
reflexology (and even if it doesn't work you get your feet rubbed)

Wow,

so the ice-thing wasn't a joke!! I will wait a couple of weeks and use it if I get desperate...

Still feels a bit mean though

I tried the bum in the air thing. Not sure if it worked but ds turned at around 38 weeks - and boy did it hurt!

Bugsy2 · 29/09/2006 13:52

Mine turned all by herself 2 days short of 38 weeks, so you've got time yet. Felt like an elephant was barging around inside me. I didn't do any positioning things, she just did it all by herself!
Good luck.

me too - I'm 35 weeeks and currently trying not to slump on the sofa, which is a bit of a downer as I've just started my maternity leave...

But there's a very good thread here which gives you all sorts of advice on how to get the little so-and-so to turn...

DD (my first) turned at 38+6 (when I was already booked for a CS due to the breech presentation, which was then cancelled - I found out when I went for my pre-op assessment....) & was born at 39+4 (by emergency CS, but that's another story), so hang in there, there's still plenty of time for your baby to turn.

Thanks for sharing the experiences. It's good to know I'm not alone (all the pictures of babies at this stage show it with head down!)

It actually feels like it might have moved, I think it might be lying cross-ways now, so maybe it's on its way over... we'll see!

Go for acupuncture - there is apoint on the little toes specifically for turning breech babies. Also sit on gym ball at least 20 mins a day. Hip circles. Crawling on hands and knees for about 20 mins a day. Sit forward and not lying back.
Good Luck!

Gemmitygem · 01/10/2006 19:29

mine turned about 35 weeks... I did LOADS of swimming on my front, and loads of sitting forwards, did not slouch at all.. Don't know if it's cos of that that it turned the right way in the end but it could be worth a shot! best of luck

I had a breech baby with my first pregnancy. The hospital offered to turn the baby for me but it sounded so dreadful and that they only said it has a 50% success rate so I decided just to get booked in for a section.

The section was fantastic and was very glad thats how my pregnancy ended!
