Apart from, obviously, meeting the most magical creature to ever grace the planet (ie your baby), what are you most looking forward to about no longer being pregnant?

Don't get me wrong, I know people would give their right arm to be pregnant and we're all incredibly lucky (myself included - two years TTC, two miscarriages, a shed load of heartache) but I've found pregnancy itself to be, ahem, a little bit trying (six hospital admissions for HG, constipation, horrendous acid reflux blah blah blah) and now that I'm over the hump and sailing towards the third trimester I'm starting to think about all the glorious little things my pre-pregnancy self took for granted that I can't wait for.

My list so far:

  1. Sleeping without four pillows propped under my head. *
  2. Sleeping on my front again, as I have my entire pre-pregnancy life.*
  3. Sleeping for more than four hours without needing to pee.*
  4. Not needing to spit every thirty seconds due to the ridiculous amount of excess saliva in my mouth at all times.
  5. Eating chocolate, which has been the weirdest pregnancy food aversion.
  6. A lovely, chilled glass - who am I kidding, bottle - of wine.
  7. Wearing clothes that don't have a massive stretchy band around the middle.
  8. Not constantly second guessing myself and frantically googling to see if I've somehow harmed the baby (should I have eaten that sushi? Should I have climbed over that fence? Etc.)

*Yes, I do know how naive all these "sleep" ones are - no sleep 'till the baby's at least 30, as someone helpfully points out at least once a day.

What are you most looking forward to about not being pregnant?

  2. blue steak
  3. sleeping on my front
  4. not having to walk around like a crab/duck/like I have a melon in between my legs
  5. the bloody birthing ball not being in the living room
  6. people not touching my tummy
  7. people saying 'oooh, not long now'
  8. not crying over TV adverts where puppies come out of biscuit packets
  9. nice underwear 35 days to go, not that I'm counting..
katiegee · 10/10/2014 16:09

Yes to sleeping on my tummy again. I have slept on my tummy my entire life and I miss it :( can't get comfortable any other wayso sleep feels like a distant memory.

People not commenting on how big my bump is every time they see me. I have felt incredibly self-conscious since becoming pregnant.

A good poo.

RebeccaCloud9 · 10/10/2014 17:49

Haha so similar!

  1. normal sleeping (obvs when I have time to sleep!)
  2. not puking every morning
  3. pate on toast
  4. being able to stand up normally, not rolling off the sofa

PS - I'm loving the elasticated clothing!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 10/10/2014 17:53
  1. not being heavily pregnant anymore. 38 wks with DC2 and I miss being able to bend down and pick something up. Seriously wouldnt be able to pick up a winning lottery ticket off tge floor atm

  2. DD being able to sit on my lap again - at the moment there is no room

  3. pregnancy insomnia going the fuck away. I know babies break up your sleep but its already breaking up!

Annarose2014 · 10/10/2014 18:19

Wearing my entire wardrobe. Its all packed away in a top shelf cos if I saw it I'd cry. Feel like I've been wearing 4 outfits for the last 6 months.

Not having heartburn anymore.

Getting out of bed without gritting my teeth against the pelvic pain.

Not having to be hoicking stupid maternity jeans up 100 times a day.

Having a break from people telling me I'm doing too much. I'm perfectly healthy, thanks. I can still go to bloody Tescos.

Having a bath without being scared I'm going to loose my grip and fall in and bang myself.

Not accidentally soaking my bump everytime I wash the dishes!

Sex in different positions other than the only one thats possible Blush

Peanuts!

RebeccaCloud9 · 10/10/2014 19:32

You can have peanuts!

Bellyrub1980 · 10/10/2014 19:41

Without a doubt being able to lie on my tummy. I'm missing this far more than anything else on the massive list of things you're not allowed.

I don't care how much the baby keeps me awake, if between feeds/crying/changes can lie on my tummy. I simply can't sleep lying on my side anyway and have woken every hour ever since my bump was too big to lie on it.

So yes, lying on my tummy. (I've become slightly obsessional about it.)

Chipandspuds · 10/10/2014 19:51

I'm looking forward to no more heartburn (currently drinking a lot of milk to keep it at bay)!

I also can't wait to be able to roll over in bed without having to wake up to manoeuvre myself.

I also want to be able to pick DS up and cuddle him properly without my bump aching and being in the way!

I'm looking forward to the milk drink new baby feeds though Smile

Jaffakake · 10/10/2014 19:55

Wine
Beer
Spirits (not sure why my mudwife thinks I have a drinking problem Confused)
Sleeping on my front
Pate
Medium steak
Not having people asking me if I should be carrying that
Being able to not go to work & run round like a blue arsed fly all the time.

...and I'm only 15 weeks gone!

FranksBobot · 10/10/2014 19:56

Having a stupidly hot bubble bath

Ruth10 · 10/10/2014 21:02

Ooh sleeping on my tummy! I can't wait!

Also:
1.Not having to walk up stairs/ down stairs/ get out of a car/ actually walk in general like a shuffly old granny
2.Being able to poo like a normal person
3.Not worrying about accidentally farting every time I move
4.Not having people say 'have you tried ginger biscuits' ....oh really I'd never thought of that in 6 months of throwing up!
5.Being able to bend over and pick up something I dropped, rather than thinking, f* it and kicking it out of view
6.Not eating rennie's like polo mints

  1. Being able to put on my knickers normally rather than throwing them on the floor and stepping into them cos I can't lift 1 leg

God, no one tells you how hard pregnancy is!

mangoespadrille · 10/10/2014 21:13

How could I have forgotten no more ridiculous advice/anecdotes from their own pregnancy? The ginger biscuit thing is so infuriating when you're lying in a hospital bed, unable to bring a glass of water near your face without vomiting. Whenever I mention my HG to anyone (99% of the time because they asked), all you get is the ginger biscuit thing. Or "I wasn't sick once!". Grr...good for you.

hartmel · 10/10/2014 21:23

  1. getting up without pelvic griddle pain!
  2. no more painful, breath taken away Braxton hicks.
  3. cuddle and play with my son (13 month old) with bump in the way
  4. able to cook nice meals without being to exhausted
  5. have sex again with no bump in the way and actually can enjoy it. Grin

38 weeks.. Hopefully baby will be born in the next couple days (not weeks)

Twinklestar2 · 10/10/2014 21:30

I had my boy nearly 9 weeks ago and the best thing - apart from the obvious! - is being able to sleep without 8 pillows propped up around me! I had horrendous backache during pregnancy.

Marshpillow · 10/10/2014 21:59

Sleeping on my front (seems to be a common one)
Not constantly worrying that everything I eat will hurt the baby
No more nausea.
Wearing nice clothes again.

ConfessionsInTheMoonlight · 10/10/2014 22:09

I hate to say it but I couldn't wait to sleep on my front again when I was pregnant with my first. Then he was born and I couldn't sleep on my chest, it was far too painful. I was very disappointed and frustrated with that.

Looking forward to exercising again. And lots of seafood!

Ruth10 · 10/10/2014 22:18

Mango, you're so right, why do people think it's helpful to say, ' oh it loved pregnancy I wasn't sick at all', well wonderful for you but how does that make me feel better?

Confessions- noooo, you've trampled all over our dreams!

I've thought of another one:
Not crying over the most ridiculous things, I cried the other day cos my slipper fell off and I didn't want to get off the sofa to get it cos my back hurt!

Bellyrub1980 · 11/10/2014 00:31

Oh god I forgot about the boobs.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Nessalina · 11/10/2014 01:00

Grin @ 'pelvic griddle pain' - it bloody feels like something's been trapped in a griddle!

  1. Not making old woman noises whenever I stand up / climb stairs.
  2. A large glass bottle of red wine... 3)... with a plate of very stinky gooey blue cheese & pate.
  3. A spa visit where I'm allowed to go in the lovely hot sauna & jacuzzi.

I've eaten quite a lot of smoked salmon Confused thought it was okay.

Whoops

DanyStormborn · 11/10/2014 14:25

You can eat smoked salmon if it is correctly stored in a refrigerator and in date (the only way I'd eat it anyway).

DanyStormborn · 11/10/2014 14:29

I want to go for more than two hours without needing to pee.

Not have people constantly ask "how are you/how's bump" in a condescending tone.

Not have people constant say "should you be eating/doing that".

I want a really really hot bath.

I want a very very rare steak and lots of wine.

I want to stop having to calculate how much caffeine I've had that day before each cup of tea/glass of coke.
