Herbal Teas While Pregnant

I'm 11 + 2, I've got a whole section of a kitchen cupboard full of herbal teas, and I want to have a clear out so I can fill the shelf with chocolate wholesome cereals instead.

Can anyone point me at a good, comprehensive list of which herbs should be avoided in pregnancy so I can get rid of any that I can't have?

I keep finding completely contradictory advice online, e.g. "don't drink chamomile" vs "chamomile is good and you will find it relaxing". Can't even work out what is meant by the different types of ginseng, since the ingredients in my "Invigorating" tea just say ginseng. One site says don't take anything with a medicinal effect - does this include ginko biloba or not?

I'm sure this isn't as complicated as I'm being led to believe. Are there any good sites with a simple list, which are not all American and paranoid?

Hi I went off normal tea and coffee in my 1st pregnancy 12 yrs ago ! I have only drank herbal tea since then . Chamomile with honey and vanilla by Twinnings is the one I drink the most . I am preggers now 22 +3d and find I go off stuff easily so I would advise you buy a selection . So what you like . Brew .

The only one to really avoid is Raspberry leaf tea in early pregnancy ( I'd avoid til about 32/34 werks) as it can sometimes cause uterine contractions which can stimulate miscarriage in the most unfortunate of cases. Peppermint and ginger are both really good for morning sickness as they settle the stomach if you're suffering.

Just take everything online with a pinch of salt and remember that women have been having babies for thousands of years without these 'rules' and have been fine :)

I have read conflicting advice about Camomile. My personal belief is that it is fine as long as you have had no adverse affects in the past. I think you would have to drink an awful lot of it to have any issues.

Peppermint has been brilliant for me to counter unsettled digestion and heartburn. It has to be better than taking medication and it tastes lovely and fresh.

Lemon and ginger is supposed to be good for sickness.
