I am a new poster so I hope i am putting this in the right place. I am in the early stages of my second pregnancy and I just can't keep any fluids or food down. Every time I stand up or try to do something I end up with my head in the toilet.

With my last pregnancy I ended up in and out of hospital with HG. I'm not looking for sympathy just some advice on what to do. I haven't got much support as I live quite away from any family and my husband works long hours. People keep telling me to just get on with it and "pregnancy isn't an illness" "You can't just laze around you have a house and child to care for"

I feel like a failure, I'm scared of my husband coming home to a messy house and I can just about take care of my 3yr old DD. Please help me and tell me I can get through this, what am I supposed to do?

Just take your child to hospital with you and ring your mum/ MIL from there. It will seem different to them if you are being treated. Or you might go doolally on the cyclizine like i do and nor care!

Or leave then at home while you go and call her to take over from dh if he needs to deal with the leaking sewage.

Okay, on the positive I managed to keep a small glass of warm water down (it was gross) and a slice of toast, I have been sick since but only dribs and drabs so thats a relief. Waiting on a call back from 111 again, husbands had to go back to work as they wouldn't let him take the evening shift off but I'm armed with phone numbers and another glass of warm water.

Worst thing about all this according to my clearblue test im only 2-3 weeks pregnant!

Twins ? (Probably not helpful)

Hi glitter bug. Do post on the hypermesis thread here. Lots of support and info re guidelines. I'm sorry your husband isn't being too helpful. He can get you kesostix on his way home from an all night chemist if you live in a town.

It sounds like you might need rehydration in hospital. If necessary take your dd with you. No fun waiting in a and e though.

Your husband's work sounds pretty mean. He is allowed to take emergency leave to get you to hospital and he cannot be penalised, he is protected by employment law. Check the direct.gov website for more details. This is an emergency.

I'm so sorry you feel on your own in this. Try and stay safe tonight.

Sorry if you can't read about food but have you tried ice cubes, ice lollies, the juice from tinned fruit, flat diet coke, soda water, cold cold melon.

Hello everyone, husband took me to hospital in the end, just got back, they wanted to keep me in but I said i felt better in my own home and they were happy to let me go after and injection in the bottom and some tablets.

Hopefully this won't last long fingers crossed. Thank you for all of the support, my husband has taken the evening off to sit with me and do chores. :)

So glad you've had some proper attention and dh is taking care of you. Flowers

Really pleased you got some attention. Try this thread for more ongoing support www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2186463-Hyperemesis-Support?pg=14

Glad your husband stood up for you too, knew he'd come through for you.

Best of luck
