It's 5.30 am and I can't sleep due to throwing up constantly. I haven't been able to keep anything down for days and feel really weak Confused I didn't have it this bad with DS but this is horrendous! I'm worried I'm going to end up dehydrated and in hospital. Can anyone tell me anything that will help? I'm going to call the docs in the morning. Also DS is only 6months and still EBF (well he's started aolids). How am I going to feed him when I'm like this????

No experience but didn't want to read and run.

How many weeks are you? have you been ill from the beginning?

Emergency appointment with your GP this morning seems like a good idea.

LightTripper · 09/10/2014 07:08

Poor you. No advice, you are doing the right thing going to the GP. If you do need a drip the sooner the better (A&E if necessary). They may be able to prescribe something to help. Hang on in there xxx

Go to the hyperemesis thread. They're lovely.

Go to doctors ASAP. Some anti emetics - I think metaclopramide - are used to increase breast milk supply so possible you could be prescribed them for sickness while feeding. I had metaclopramide but wasn't feeding. Seek medical attention soon as there's some thoughts that controlling sickness early stops it progressing.

If it is as bad as you say, then it may not be possible to keep feeding. I know I felt like death. But the hyperemesis thread with lucinda may be very helpful.

Just waiting for the docs to open now. DS has a cold too. Feel bad for him, I barely have the energy to pick him up and comfort him. My mouth is so dry I've taken to swilling water and then spitting it out. Too scared to drink it!
I'll check out the other thread thanks.

Also I'm only 6 weeks! If I feel this bad now how am I going to survive the rest of the pregnancy?! Confused

Good luck at doctors. Mine perscrbed phenergan (basically travel sickness pills). Whilst it didn't stop it, I could function & keep enough down. Ice pops, biscuits, bread, anything that you can keep close by to nibble on is good.

Seeline · 09/10/2014 09:32

I had phenergan too - made me sooo drowsy but at least I could look after my toddler. Don't know if it would be OK if feeding though. Hope your GP can sort something out though - it's horrible Flowers

So docs wouldn't give me anything today. If I'm the same tomorrow I have to go in and prob be admitted due to dehydration.
So I've asked someone to pick me up lots of ginger products. Is there anything else I could try? I just need to keep something down.
Lower back is killing, have shivers and shakes and feel woozy when standing Confused

I survived my first pg on dry rice krispies. I also found that sometimes if I ate something and was sick I then had a brief window of opportunity to eat something else before the nausea returned after about 5 minutes.
I would also go back to your GP and demand something to help (unless it is the bfing that is preventing you being able to take anything). I refused to leave the surgery until I had a prescription.....
Really hope you feel better soon.

Graciescotland · 09/10/2014 13:29

I really had to push for a prescription as well, they don't like to give you anything in pregnancy. I cried.

babykonitsway · 09/10/2014 13:31

Lower back pain suggests dehydration, need to be careful incase it is a kidney infection.

Get an emergency gp appt, u may need anti biotics and you def need something to help you keep water and food down. It is serious don't let them put you off.

Littlef00t · 09/10/2014 13:38

The little mr freeze lollies were my friend. Ice cold so refreshing but also quite sugary so a tiny bit of energy if anything stayed down.

Or try sucking on ice cubes, you'll be drinking then so slowly hopefully your body won't notice.

For your ds, your body will provide what he needs to the detriment of your needs, but I found my dd loves full fat natural yoghurt and would happily eat loads, seemed to push feeds back so you could feed him some if you can't face feeding. Good calories compared to veg etc.

microferret · 09/10/2014 17:32

For me vitamin B6 worked wonders but you need to take a fair bit (apparently 100mg a day is totally safe). It might help you out too. Hope you feel better soon!

PretzelPrincess · 10/10/2014 11:13

Went back to the docs. Ketones were 3+ so defo dehydrated. She caved and gave me cyclizine and the hospital number if I don't improve soon for rehydration. Fingers crossed the tablets work!
