Renal impairment

Hi everyone,

I just called the NHS for some blood test results, ordered by my GP.
They said all is fine, except for a renal impairment, which would need to be discussed at my next appointment. Well, the first receptionist simply told me to book an appointment, not even what for. Calling again 10 minutes later then, a second one said it would be a renal impairment.

Neither of both could tell me what that means, if it was urgent or not. The second one I spoke too, told me I could discuss it with the midwife (located in the same building but they don't work together) and would not need to take a GP appointment.

Does anyone know if this is true and what this means?

Many thanks!

Renal means 'something to do with the kidney' so it is likely the kidneys aren't filtering properly. I am sure you are fine, if it was urgent they would have got you in immediately. All the best :)

Oh ok, thanks!

Never had problems with the kidneys before (get tested frequently due to hypothyroidism) but I read that pregnancy can cause some... Might be just that. I lost two babies already and am a bit overly anxious from time to time :/ Many thanks :)

No problems, i know the word renal cause as a child i suffered from Nephrotic Syndrome which wasn't fun and was in and out of the Renal Unit at hospital, but there are lots of treatments nowadays so i am sure everything will be fine :D
