Hi ladies

Needing some reassurance think I'm making myself Ill, I'm 8.5 weeks pregnant around my 6 week scan I was feeling so sick in the morning waking up and heaving, all of a sudden it just stopped I feel it's to early for it to stop I still feel quite sicky throughout the day and can only eat certain foods and nipples still slightly sore, dr says unless I'm not bleeding or have any pains everything is fine but I wish I could stop worrying xxx

Hi there,
Well first of all huge congratulations on your pregnancy. I totally understand about the panicking, I didnt have ivf but did have a late miscarriage at 13 weeks in my last pregnancy so spent the entire first trimester this time around worrying. The only thing that really helped for me was getting a private early scan. You say you had a 6 week scan, do you have any more booked? I had one for £99 at babybond (they have clinics in some Mothercare stores). By 8-9 weeks you should get quite a good idea of what is happening.
Other than that, try and focus on the fact that you have no bleeding which is a really good sign. And plenty of people have no sickness at all, or sickness going away by 8-9 weeks and they have perfectly healthy pregnancies. I know how you feel though. Try and distract yourself by planning lots of lovely things for the weekends, meals out, salon visits, new haircut etc, this helped the weeks pass by a bit quicker for me!
wishing you all the best xx

Thankyou!! So sorry for your miscarriage and so nice to hear you have had a healthy pregnancy since, my midwives seem to be abit slow in contacting me the drs say she will phone but it's only 3 weeks to my 12 week and they haven't even contacted me let alone book scan the receptionists say if I haven't heard again by next week then phone again xx

I am currently 22 weeks pregnant after ivf and too be honest I've been worried the whole time! Although it is better now the little one is kicking away and constantly on the move. I've come to accept that it's probably going to be like this for the next 18 years, it's all part of the preparation of becoming a parent. I would second paying for extra scans if you can afford it. Wishing you every luck in your pregnant x

Thankyou I knew it wasn't going to be easy I think I'm not actually believing I'm pregnant seeing a scan would help xx

Do get a scan if you can afford it. We were in exactly the same position -3rd ivf and first pregnancy. We had to wait until 8 weeks for our first scan which was so difficult. Despite knowing we 'only' had to wait another four weeks for a second scan after the 8 week one, we booked in a scan at 10 weeks privately - otherwise I would have been a nervous wreck!

Once we got past the 12 week stage I felt much more comfortable knowing the risk was now genuinely low and I think I've managed to keep my anxiety to normal (pregnant person) levels since then! And as the previous poster said, hopefully you quickly start to get the daily reminders that everything is ok as the baby starts fluttering around.

One of the really difficult things about ivf and other fertility issues is that you've already been through a prolonged rollercoaster of emotions to get pregnant in the first place - I wondered whether I had the energy left to deal with 9 months more. But when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel you know it's all so worth it.I'm now 33 weeks and so excited to see the baby we have waited for for so so long.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x

After ivf it's amazing to be pregnant though. I still cannot believe how lucky I am. Every time I look at my tummy or feel it move I feel immensely grateful x

Congrats Jelly! I'm 31 weeks following IVF and as pp said, worried all the way through. My symptoms completely disappeared about 7 weeks and I had convinced myself I'd had an MMC. Private scan revealed otherwise thankfully.

It was only later that I realised my symptoms dropping off coincided with a reduction in the dose of progesterone I was on. Went from 400mg cyclogest daily to 200mg. I've since read, and been told by midwives that progesterone support can exacerbate pregnancy symptoms.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

Thankyou ladies where can I book these scans agin it seems so hard round here to get hold of a midwife I think I need one but my partner will be annoyed, he is always positive and tells me to stop worrying but as you ladies know easier said than done x

I totally get it jellytots, I am now 14+4 after my first attempt at IVF, I thought getting a positive pregnancy test would give me some assurance that all was well but 9 tests later and at my 7 week scan I was a wreck, a few days after the scan my anxiety crept up again until my 12 week scan which thankfully was exactly on 12 weeks but I didnt find out my scan date until 8 days before. Now I am finally in a more positive place, the stats are totally in our favour, and I am constantly telling myself that unless I have cramps or bleeding its unlikely that something has gone wrong. Its still hard to believe sometimes though.

The fact that you feel sick and are struggling with food is a good sign, are you exhausted to? You can do a quick google of private scans in your area and you will find all the info you need, Somehow I managed to get to 12 weeks without one but am struggling to think that I have to wait another 6 till my 20 week, I think i might book one for 16/17 weeks...

Look after yourself, hopefully your midwife will be in touch soon and you'll have your scan date before you know it.

Another IVF graduate here! Currently 22 weeks after 3 rounds of IVF and I didn't have any morning sickness etc...at all until 12weeks. I spoke to my MW about it and she said that its completely normal and then had a huge rant about the whole "morning sickness is a sign of a healthy pregnancy" myth. Smile needless to say this didn't stop me panicking and at 11 weeks I picked up the phone and booked a private reassurance scan at a local clinic and everything was fine.

The wait for scans I torturous and I completely sympathise Thanks I hope you get your date through soon!

There's so many of us in same position it's so unfair, tiredness is not as bad though I feel tired and drained I'm putting it down to stress of thinking all the time I don't feel much going on down there at all xx
