So I started a thread in pregnancy for books for mums to be and of course a lot will be the same for dads, but my DH wondered are there any books on baby's first year (not pregnancy) that you as a dad (or your partner as a dad) have found particularly helpful? Any books aimed at Dads that are really good?

We're more leaning towards attachment parenting, though due to my medication will probably be bottle feeding. So not so much strict routines and leaving baby to self-soothe and more co-sleeping type stuff would be really appreciated! Humour also goes down well! Grin

Commando dad - its funny and filled with how to deal with the practicalities of looking after your BT (baby trooper), then your MT (mobile trooper), from birth to 3yrs. From bathing to feeding to weaning, sleep, tired cues to what to take when you go out to dealing with common childhood illnesses/injuries to potty training, etc.

Its that funny and easy to read that BIL and SIL, who are waiting for him to come out of the army (18months time) before ttc, ended up reading lots of it when they were here last.

It was written by a bloke who was in the army, then became a dad himself and now does childcare for others.

Expectant Dads Survival Guide was brilliant, my husband found it a great book.
