Another night of painful BH

I'm 36+6

Well, the tightening are not painful exactly... More uncomfortable and coming roughly very ten mins. But this time they're coming in a wave they starts right at the top of my uterus down to my waist level and feels like a tight band there. The feeling doesn't really go down low at all.

It feels a bit like the kind of stomach cramp you get with mild food poisoning. I've been able to sleep on and off through them (although my dreams have been totally dominated by labour!!)

Maybe it is a dodgy tummy (had a spicy curry earlier) or maybe just BH or maybe... Just maybe! It's the very early stages of labour???

My only concern with that is that my midwife thinks my baby is oblique and is sending me for a positioning scan.

Stupid question, but can you even go into labour if the head isn't engaged??

Hi - yes, you can go into labour if the head isn't engaged... It might be. Worth a call to the midwives. One of my babies born at 36 weeks (and was totally fine - no scu) - but right way round. It can be hard to dilate if the head's not engaged and pressing in the right places which means labour can be very slow. (Often happens with back-to-back babies.) But labour can still start.

God luck!

(Might just be BH but might not....)
