Reassure me re overheating in first trimester?

I didn't realise should avoid getting too hot. I have been repeatedly way too hot during weeks four to seven - often to the point of short breath and dizziness . Largely due to working environment and stupid giant windows. I have also often overheated totally at night with duvet and too many clothes and woken up drenched in sweat.
Obviously I am not going to allow these things to happen again. Work are giving me a fan too. I just didn't realise. But I gather than overheating fir even ten min in the first trimester can cause neural tube defects- and I have been overheated way more than that. I am appalled to think I could have hurt my baby. Obviously I can't do anything to change what I did and must just hope for the best - apparently won't know until week twenty scan. But it would be great to hear any reassurance from others who accidentally had similar experience and yet wee ok.
It's not just the heat that concerns me - I was definitely very short of breath and dizzy. I had to sit down.

Well i didn't know this before reading this tread but tbh i just kept doing what i normaly so and my job is cleaning out 8 massive tents everyday within a 2hour time slot.
In the summer heat it was god damn hard work and hot, i have had my 12 week scan all seemed fine ill have to wait for my 20 week scan to see if me just getting on with stuff has cause my baby any harm but tbh i doubt it would.
My job is so physical can't help but getting hot lol
I really wouldn't worry your self to much over it babys are so robust its amazing what they can put up with.

The evidence, such as I can find , seems to relate to the use of saunas and hot tubs, which I'm sure make your internal temperature much higher than just being hot at work. (Think of the temperature of water in a hot tub, compared to the temperature of air, even in a hot room.) And I'm positive being hot in bed will have had no effect on your baby at all - I'm constantly hot in bed, I think it's part of being pregnant! I really would try not to worry about it. :)

Thank you all. I know about the hot countries argument - of course heat alone not a prob - the scenario at work was me literally running around a large hot room in sunshine for two hours (not walking). V physical.

I have never before had the shortness of breath and extraordinary heat thing that ensued. I stayed incredibly hot an breathless for an hour afterwards.

So it was three hours of heat and running and weird effects - but I didn't complain! Part of job so I just got on with it. It is only a week later I learned about heating.

It was very physical work. I am supposed to do it again every week.

Hasten to add the physical stuff only a problem in that room - huge huge windows make it hot like a greenhouse. Famous among colleagues. I am hoping the fan will help though.

I will try to forget about it I think!

Thanks all.
