Last night I wet the bed...

I'm 37 weeks and woke up last night in a big puddle. Obviously thought my waters had gone (thankfully had put a huge pad under the sheet last week) but the midwife is fairly certain that no, I just wet the bed. How mortifying!! Blush

Apparently it's not unusual at this stage but I'm not convinced. DH is laughing with me about it but I'm still horrified that he'll always know this now.

Oh god, you poor thing. I farted once in front of my husband and I'm still suffering internal dying from that. I look forward to the next humiliation!

Ledkr · 27/09/2014 09:58

pippin are you kidding?

Gennz · 27/09/2014 10:36

Pippin are you serious?!

HavanaSlife · 27/09/2014 10:41

I thought id wet myself with ds2 but it turned out to be the back waters.

Dont be mortified though, it happens to lots of people towards the end

MarchEliza · 27/09/2014 10:42

Oh good, another indignity to look forward to. May I ask what pad you've got and where you got it from. I've got a lovely new mattress and while I'm only 19 weeks should probably think ahead...

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 27/09/2014 10:54

Marcheliza - you can get kids bed wetting pads or adult incontinence bed pads. Home bargains had them cheap last time I was pregnant. They are good for the first few days post birth when blood leaks are common too.

wingcommandergallic · 27/09/2014 10:56

Wait tip you poop yourself while pushing baby out!

callipygian00 · 27/09/2014 11:25

Currently about 4 weeks. WHAT HAVE I LET MYSELF IN FOR?!?

LBNM19 · 27/09/2014 11:34

Oh no. I was cleaning the floor on my hands and knees the other day sneezed and alot of wee come out lol I'm 36 weeks now xx

PragmaticWench · 27/09/2014 11:58

I've had the sneezing whilst on hands and knees and very slightly wetting myself too!! Clearly I'm losing all control and should take to wearing those big tena pants.

Pippin has the right phrase, 'internal dying', that's exactly how I felt.

You should be able to fart and burp in front of your partner without being humiliated. I get why you'd feel embarrassed about wetting the bed, but it really is very common.

RosieProbert · 27/09/2014 12:00

I did it twice at about 10 weeks. In the same week. I'm 32 weeks now and still have the paranoia.

PragmaticWench · 27/09/2014 12:00

MumEliza I bought two packs of maternity bed mats from the supermarket (in the baby section) to use in case my waters go at night, and also for bleeding afterwards.

I have a waterproof mattress protector from M&S but might get a pad too.

Your husband is going to see a lot of stuff coming out during the birth, I was wandering round the room during labour moaning and leaving a trail of wee and blood in my wake! I didn't give a fuck what happened during pregnancy at home, I mean I'd have hated to piss myself at work for example, but with my DH, we both made the bloody baby and I'm the one who had to deal with the shit stuff so I wasn't going to feel ashamed or hide it from him. I mean I don't go out of my way to fart in front of him like I wouldn't do it in front of anyone else, but we do live in the same house and to die of shame of he heard me fart?!Hmm

Don't beat yourself up for wetting the bed, it's not pleasant but we shouldn't be made to feel disgusting when we can't help the things that happen to us! I only needed maternity pads for post birth bleeding as I spent the first night in the labour ward so when I got home I wasn't bleeding so much it would leak out. Also I wasn't spending a lot if time asleep in bed because of the baby!

pippinleaf · 27/09/2014 19:12

I should point out that my husband isn't bothered about it at all, in fact he thought it was 'sweet' but I'm just funny about farting in front of people. It makes me cringe if it has ever happened. I'm not prudey, I am not bothered about all the stuff that will be sloshing around during labour, but when you're not in labour you want to think you can hold it together. I know my husband would be fine if I did pee myself, but I feel the OPs pain. I would be mortified.

Excellent - some more ultra-glam shopping is on the horizon. Thanks for the suggestions. I may be humiliated but at least my bed will survive Smile

Loveallmyboys · 28/09/2014 18:03

Pets at home also sell the pads! Puppy training pads! Ha. I used them last time but opted to buy from mothercare this time Grin

WandaDoff · 28/09/2014 18:07

Your DH will see far worse than that when you are in labour/giving birth I promise Grin

Aaaah, memories. Been there, done that.
