12 week appt lost in post?

Hi,
I'm currently 10 +1 weeks pregnant and called to book a midwife when I was 8 weeks.(have also already had early scan at 8 weeks because of precious molar and mc) They said they'd post me my booking in appointment and my scan appointment, but have yet to receive anything. I'm in SE London and come under Lewisham hospital, jut wondering if my midwife could have forgotten, or if it's normal to get this far along and have no idea when I'm being seen?
Last time it took a million phone calls to get through as they're so busy- I had to use a whole lunch break. Is it worth chasing up? Thanks.

Definitely worth a phone call to see if the scan has been booked or if your still in the queue to be processed. My form was 'on the pile awaiting processing' until 12+1! I don't trust them any more! I'm also in London and I don't know about your borough but ours is completely overbooked at the moment.

I'd definitely call- in my area the booking appointment and dating scan happen on the same day. I visited my GP at about 6 weeks and had a LONG wait to get an appointment date. I rang to chase at about 10 weeks and my referral from GP had never been received so I wouldn't have had an appointment.

They receive so many referrals/ appointment requests, I'd be surprised if 100% were received and processed correctly so think it never does any harm to ring and check :) x

I had to call the hospital as i had no letter turns out my midwife had not sent them any of the stuff! So give the ultrasound or antenatal clinic a call at the hospital and see if you have an appointment booked.

Thanks everyone, this was very helpful. Shock Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm being overly suspicious/unreasonable/ignorant. Sounds like it's worth a lunchtime of being on hold.....

I got a letter to invite me to my booking in a week before my appointment. Had it at about 11 weeks and booked my scan then for the next week. I'm London too. They had been informed I was pregnant at about 6 weeks as I was ill.

PragmaticWench · 27/09/2014 12:05

I think it's okay for the scan to be anytime up until 14+3 (around there), in order to date and do the nuchal fold measurement accurately. Doesn't sound worrying but I'd call to ask, just to make sure you're in the system.

I'm under lewisham too and had my 12 week appointment sent to me even before I had my booking appt, I've found them quite efficient so definitely follow up. Can't remember the name offhand but have you seen the e midwife you can tweet? I've seen people on there following up appts etc and they seem to reply.

Psmith83 · 28/09/2014 21:21

Oooh, thanks Sarah, I'll google that. Thanks for the info- good to know they're efficient!

I saw midwives and got my 12 week scan appointment three weeks afterwards - just before the scan, I think it could be fairly normal.

Hilariously, I got the scan appt in the post today- now just need to chase midwife appt! Sarah, you were right!

Just wanted to finish this thread off with the result: I think they had forgotten my midwife appointment as I rang the GP yesterday to chase, they seemed confused and gave me some numbers to ring and then the midwife rang me today to arrange, so it was good I chased! Thanks for the advice everyone! X
