Hello there chd. I'm very sorry to say that it sounds like you've had a miscarriage. It is possible to spot during a healthy pregnancy, but the negative test is a sign you may have lost the pregnancy.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you Thanks It's something that I've been through myself, so I can imagine how you're feeling.

The only reassurance I can offer is that it's incredibly common. It's estimated that 75% of pregnancies end a few days after they've started. It doesn't mean that you did anything wrong or that there's necessarily a problem with you or your partner. It's just one of those horrible things mother nature likes to spring on us.

Look after yourself, and I hope your doctor's apt tomorrow goes well. x

thanks for replying, well i started bleeding the day i found out so i pretty much thought that was that, i know.bleeding can happen in pregnancy but im quite a pessimist and resided to the fact that it wasnt going to last the week, only going to the doc to see if theres anything i need to do now as it didnt seem to be as bad as i thought miscarriage would be ! maybe im just being a bit heartless though Hmm Hmm

Whatever reaction you have is just fine Thanks There's no 'normal'.

MC isn't that bad physically when it's very early. I've lost two between 4 and 5 weeks, what are technically called 'chemical pregnancies', and it's just like a prolonged period. You may find your next cycle's a bit longer.

Later on (I've lost another two at 8 weeks and 11 weeks) it can be a lot more unpleasant. I was hospitalised for one of them. But hopefully you'll never need to find out about that Smile

I hope everything works out for you in the future Thanks

You don't need to go to the doctors. For my miscarriages I was told I only needed to go if the discharge started to smell or I got a fever etc. which would indicate an infection. I didn't feel terrible after my miscarriages as I was just so relieved I could get pregnant. I hope you feel ok and have people around you. X

You may want to go to the doctors to get the miscarriage recorded. Usually a miscarriage is a one off event, however, if you end up being in the 1% that have recurrent miscarriage the NHS won't do any investigations until you've had three in a row. Best to get it recorded.
