I'm usually an 8 hour a night girl but have been struggling with sleep recently. I've still not much bump at 18 weeks but I just can't seem to get comfy. A couple of other mums at my yoga class said 'have you not got a pregnancy pillow?' Well I'd never heard of one! I've since googled it but don't really know where to start! Any advice? Thanks

Hi!
I got mine first pregnancy from mothercare. It's a godsend. The one I have is basically the size of 2 pillows stuck together length ways and U hug it on my side with the bottom bit wedged between my legs. I would defo get one x

I have the dream genie. I managed to pick it up cheaper in tk maxx. I've used it nearly all the way through and would recommend it. I've helped with keeping me on my side, restless legs and sore boobs. I'm 38 weeks now and am also propping myself up with a v shaped pillow for the horrendous heartburn!!

Thank you both of you! Think I'm converted! Oo bump think I'll just have a huge bedfull of pillows at your stage, hope you are getting some sleep

Ahh thanks nutty, I was hoping that the baby would have dropped by now and I'd be getting some relief from the heartburn but alas, not yet. Another tip for you, if you ebay pregnancy pillows you can find the huge v pillows which run the length of your body, some of my friends have found those to be useful as well.

Think that's what I need to keep DH from stealing my half of the bed :)

I have the carla cuddle me pillow, which is one of the ones shaped like a big snake that go all round you. I wanted to have one of the ones that wrap round behind you, because it supports the back as well, and makes it less likely that I roll over onto my back in the night (which was really hurting my spine). It's also relatively narrow, so it doesn't force DH out of bed (though I have been known to accidentally whack him in the face with it while trying to turn over). I definitely find it helps, and it's much less faff than having to arrange lots of individual pillows in the right position and then move them every time you want to turn over in the night. I was getting lots of pain and waking up lots in the night but since getting it have actually been sleeping quite well. It was a good investment for me.

No no no, you need a Theraline pillow (from Amazon) it's a full body one that comes in lovely covers and it's squishy and awesome. Plus when your baby is born they are great for getting a good position for breast feeding or just to hang out on for cuddles.

I'd wrestle anyone before getting rid of mine Grin

I got a dream genie from an NCT sale but haven't really got on with it, I find I want the full width of a normal pillow. Also I kept rolling back onto the small back pillow of the dream genie and although it wasn't enough to wake me up, it was enough that in the morning I had a sore back from it.
Am 32 weeks now and am sleeping with 2 extra normal pillows - one between my knees and one kind of tucked under my bump & I hug it too.
It's still annoying when I want to roll over as all the pillows have to go with me... But I find the one in between my knees is key and for some reason this stops me getting a sore hip (which is usually what wakes me up to turn over).

I bought a long-length pillow earlier in my pregnancy but it was such a faff to try and take it with me every time I turned over that I gave up half-way through night 1! It ended up keeping me awake more than it helped me sleep as it was such an effort. In hindsight I wouldn't buy a specialist pillow again.

I'd suggest trying different thickness pillows and cushions....find out what works best for your current stage but don't expect it to stay the same through your whole pregnancy. I've now reached the stage (38 weeks) where no amount of pillows or sleeping positions will help :p
