You are not being 'stupid' at all! Most of us get the collywobbles as the first time approaches - it would be odd not to as there is nothing like it and we are all different!
It might help to talk through your fears with your midwife, or a friend; someone you feel comfortable with. What is it that frightens you? Is there some previous experience that may have triggered this? If you can suss out the origin of it you are half way to taking command of your perspective. If someone you knew had a bad experience do explain to your midwife that you are keen not to 'go there' perhaps and she can be sensitive to that. Then there are techniques for getting into the best frame of mind for the birth - essentially letting your brain get on with the job and not fighting it. Listen and do what your busy brain dictates and let the midwife do her job. If you would prefer general anaesthesia to an epidural if a CS is best then let them know before the day and on admission.
All the best and go easy on yourself!

Youre nkt being stupid, I think everybody gets themselves in a tizz about giving birth (whichever way it may be), at some point during pregnancy. Speak to your midwife, they should help you talk through each of your fears and hopefully help you see it in a less scary way.

Also on the day you'll probably feel a lot better. I know I did - I was petrified of ending up with a csection before hand, yet when they were umming and arring over whether to give me a section on the day (his heart rate kept dropping when I had strong contractions), I was quite relaxed about the idea - somehow it just didn't bother me, yet I had been petrified of a csection prior to labour .
