My baby is pretty active, wriggling and kicking regularly making my whole tummy jerk about sometimes. Yet if I tell my DP 'quick she's moving!' so he can see or feel it she suddenly stops moving EVERYTIME!! (Or at least it feels like that!)

Same goes for when I try to film it.

Our baby does that too! I'm 29 weeks and husband has only managed to feel the baby move 2 or 3 times. Every time he comes near me, s/he stops moving and stays totally still... as soon as he gets bored and moves away, I swear the baby starts bouncing on a trampoline in there!

They must know somehow... maybe they can see out our belly buttons or something?!

Bellyrub1980 · 21/09/2014 21:26

That's exactly what happens to us! So frustrating as DP loves feeling her move. I wonder whether this will continue when she's born!!?

Mine to lol

rebelfor · 21/09/2014 23:12

Mine too! Looks like it's going to erupt from my belly button like the Alien baby and then is perfectly still when I ask someone to witness it.

Belly Try spooning your DH. I find when my DH has his hand on my tummy he might miss kicks, or baby might do it in another area. When you press your abdomen against his back it's a sort of 'all over feeling' and my DH has had much better feeling like this.
Good luck!

LePetitPont · 22/09/2014 11:12

Yep, mine likes to hide from my husband! We too have found spooning, or propping bump up on him works v well to get a little fidget reaction.

Bellyrub1980 · 22/09/2014 11:49

Ooh good! I'll try those things tonight!!

DS1 did the opposite! DH had his ear to my bump to see if he could hear the heartbeat (he could) and DS1 kicked him right in the face LOL

My little monkey does it too - she can literally be doing back flips and the second I get someone to put a hand on my tummy she stops and the second they remove their hand, she starts again.

DP has felt her kick a couple of times and only felt one of her big kicks - she likes to make me out to be a liar but she is generally very, very active - she just doesn't like an audience!

Cobo · 22/09/2014 18:19

This happens to us too. My theory is that the baby hears me speaking when I tell someone it's kicking, or if I move slightly, and this makes it pause. Have started trying to do it with sign language!

Bellyrub1980 · 22/09/2014 19:04

Me too! Just prodding DP and pointing at my belly. Weirdly, the baby even seems to work that out!!!

All of mine were like that. No idea how they knew. It was the same when they were born and started smiling - as soon as anyone picked up a camera or phone they'd deadpan, used to drive me nuts.

LulusMiniEgg · 22/09/2014 19:21

Me too! So glad this this a common thing, i keep telling him it's because it's scared of him already! Haha!

Bellyrub1980 · 22/09/2014 20:14

I can only think this must mean our babies are very advanced to be so clever! ;)

Our little one was exactly the same until about 2 weeks ago (32+6). Now he moves around so much that you can feel him moving most of the day and night so my other half feels him a lot more. Especially since hiccups started 2 days ago!
