Strong Braxton Hicks - worth getting excited over?

I'm really trying to be cool about the baby being two weeks late (currently 40 +2) but can't help asking - if Braxton Hicks are getting stronger and more regular ever day, could it be a sign things are imminent? We can sometimes time them 10-13 minutes apart for an hour or so and they come and go all day now. It sometimes hurts a little but nothing to stop me in my tracks. If anybody has any experiences to share I'd be grateful!

I'm currently 41+3 and had two full days of this a couple of days ago, but it all stopped again Sad I'm hoping a couple of good practice runs mean that the real one will be straightforward! HTH, know how the frustration feels!

They are so random aren't they - I guess there's no real way of knowing. Just had a failed attempt at a sweep so I guess these contractions still have some work to do! Best of luck x

40+2 is not 2 weeks late!?! It's 2 days? :)

Full term is measured from 37 weeks but it really isn't expected until 40-42 weeks.

Who has advised you the baby is 'late' and why are you struggling to be cool about it? Have you a medical condition?

As someone who does have an overdue baby and has only just been given a sweep because at your stage things really weren't ready yet and it wasn't a big deal.

squizita · 20/09/2014 14:23

...really don't worry, BTW my current sweep worked just fine (41 weeks) so progress is being made down there even when you cannot feel it!

Sorry I wasn't clear, just trying to prepare myself in case baby IS two weeks late - realise we are just past term only at the mo. Getting so fed up with people telling me it will be "any day now" as if they have insight into what's going on inside me!

Hope all goes well with your delivery and hope you are doing OK

Grin I'm through "any day now" to "no news yet I take it?" ... Erm no but I don't think the Drs take need of gossip into account when booking inductions! :)

It really does prolong the agony doesn't it, each constant reminder that baby hasn't made an appearance yet. And if you don't reply they then think you are in labour and get more excited! Next time I'll defo be vague on my due date when telling peeps Grin
