Well... I finally got my BFP. 18 mo after a m/c, and 2 years after starting to TTC. I'm in shock. Who can I talk to? I have so many events planned over the next few weeks that people will notice if I'm not taking part. My head is a mess! Help!

Congratulations!!!!! How many weeks do you think you are?

What sort if events are they?

CorporeSarnie · 18/09/2014 22:04

Congratulations Amelia Thanks.
If you want to talk to others who've been through TTC and pregnancy after MC, they're is an active thread on this board, many of the ladies have had long journeys. I'm on my phone so links are a pain, but were easy to find. We have all been there with the crazy worry of being pregnant after MC.

Only a couple. My period was only due yesterday. I have a wedding (don't know many people so reckon I can get away with that one), a GoApe day, and my sisters (small) 30th birthday party. Argh!

I found avoiding the alcohol thing much easier than expected (and I have a reputation for being a pretty big drinker amongst my friends). I had to go to my best friends wedding and was sat at the top table so felt a bit under scrutiny, but I basically just pretended to be drinking! Elderflower and soda looks like champagne, tonic water with lemon in a glass looks like gin and tonic. People really take less notice than you'd think. I also had a glass of red wine I carried around with me, nobody noticed I wasn't actually drinking it, they just assumed. I'm pretty certain I got away with it. I just found a friendly bar maid who kept me topped up in elderflower for the speeches. (My DP helped with that).

As for the go ape, I'm not so sure! I think I'd fake an injury (back or neck??!) and avoid the whole day!

Bellyrub1980 · 19/09/2014 18:58

Congratulations by the way!!

What Bellyrub says. I did Xmas on Becks Blue, everyone assumed it was regular beer. :)

RiverRocks · 20/09/2014 06:04

Congratulations! I managed my own wedding reception by carrying a half full glass of wine around with me, people just assume you're drinking it. A glass of coke can be passed off as vodka coke as long as it's not filled to the top. Get DP to go to the bar, it's less obvious if you're not ordering for yourself.

With regards to GoApe, I'm not sure what it involves but I think I would also fake injury and avoid.

Good luck with the next 8 months OP Flowers

Go ape sounds marvellous - but then I have kept jogging, swimming and weight training (albeit with restricted movements) throughout this pregnancy.

If you want to go! You'll have to sign a form to let them know (which I assume if you phone and explain you don't want anyone else to know they will help you with)

Showy · 20/09/2014 09:03

Congratulations.

I did Go Ape when pregnant. Twice actually. You just have to sign a disclaimer. Nobody else will see your disclaimer. Obviously if you don't want to do it, that's a different matter!

And nobody notices what you're drinking unless you start giggling and declaring yourself on antibiotics whilst blushing. Really, how often do you go round monitoring what's in other people's glasses? Buy a non-alcoholic drink and drink it. Don't explain it or draw attention to it. If somebody asks if you want a drink say 'no thank you' or 'yes please, I'll have an orange juice/tonic water/tea/whatever'.

I did some sports whilst pregnant but having recently done a go ape, I think I would avoid it. I'm sure in reality it is fine, clearly someone above has done it and it was but personally I don't think I would fancy wearing a tight harness over the pelvis area. Also the zip wires tend to land with a bump and I find that off putting. I have 2 children and one miscarriage. A few weeks before my miscarriage I fell and hit my lower back quite hard. I'm sure the two things weren't related as people take all sorts of batterings and are fine but I'll never really know I suppose. Anyway, congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy!!

Thanks for all your replies! I think, since my mc I am being a lot more careful this time around. So, although I think the risks are minute (especially so early in the game) I'm gonna give Go Ape a miss. I just fessed up to my friend and she was totally understanding about it. I am, however, going to continue going jogging which I have been doing now for about 6 months, so my body is totally used to it. I just want to feel something now. Is it too soon to feel pregnant? I feel like I'm going to wake up any second and it'll all be a big dream!

The only thing I felt at your stage was kind of flushed in the face, ore nipples and almost more energetic than usual. Not sure if that was just plain happiness though...! Congrats again! Try not to worry and enjoy it! :)
