I've just started ttc for DC2. I was very lucky with my first pregnancy - I had a bit of mild morning sickness and a bit of heartburn late on but apart from that I had really no ill effects at all. My labour was very quick and even though I had an emcs but I had no problems/pain afterwards.
I got off so easily last time, I'm worried pregnancy 2 (if it happens at all) will be horrific to balance it out!!
Just wondering what others' experiences have been. My friends who've had more than one seem mostly to have had all easy or all difficult pregnancies. Is that normal or is it just completely random??

mine pretty similar. better labour though.

Scoobsmam13 · 14/09/2014 22:45

I am 24 weeks with DC2 and have found this pregnancy pretty similar. I have been more tired this time, but I am 6 years older and have DC1 to look after. Other than that, and the insane Marmite and vinegar cravings, just as easy as the first (blessed with no morning sickness both times).

I'm 36 weeks with baby number 2 and have found this one so much harder! DS was only 14 months when I found out (21 months now) and I think that is what has made it so hard: he isn't old enough to be independent.I had much worse morning sickness that lasted longer (18 weeks rather than the mild nausea I had up to 10 weeks with DS). I am a lot more tired and also much bigger. On the plus side, I had terrible PGP with DS that I have managed to keep at bay this time round.... Overall though, I'm struggling and looking forward to DC2 making her appearance!

33 weeks pregnant with dd2 and this pregnancy couldn't have been more.different! I had heavy bleeding early on and we thought i had lost the baby turns out i had a massive bruise and it was just bleeding out. Almost immediately followed by hyperemisis which was the most distressing and horrific time of my life. Trixie as she is being called for now has had me in hospital a few times from.complete stopping of.movement.. Currently awake with possible labour pains that or extreme bh.
Dd1 text book perfect pregnancy labor was 100% drug free... Lord knows what trixie will put me threw.... Sorry if i scared you but you did ask... One prefect pregnancy dosnt guarantee another

SweetPeaPods · 15/09/2014 05:47

My 2nd pg is much easier and going so much quicker but I've felt much more tired. With ds1 I was sick for 20wks then developed pre eclampsia.
I'm now 36w with ds2 and no sickness or high bp. I am exhausted and achy though. Running around after a 16m prob doesn't help. I was still on mat leave when I fell pg and glad to be able to nap when I needed to in first trimester. I couldn't have functioned without they naps !

AnnaKissed · 15/09/2014 08:12

I had an easy first pregnancy. Second pregnancy I had much worse nausea in the first trimester. I didn't even realise I was pregnant until 8weeks first time round, but by 8 weeks I wanted to die! Plus I miscarried inbetween so I have been a lot more aware of what can go wrong this time round.

But now I'm in the second trimester, I feel great, and not even pregnant at all. The focus is much more on my first son who has just started school, and the actual birth seems a long way off. In fact, someone asked me the other day 'so is this your first baby?' And my first thought was 'Baby? What baby?' Then I remembered the bump! Blush

ladyflower23 · 15/09/2014 08:14

My first was really easy. Hardly any nausea . Only thing I really had was sore boobs. This time I have more nausea but still not too bad. Bit of heartburn and somefood aversions and cravings but still feel like I am getting off lightly so far. A. Much bigger than last time though. What I'm really worried about is how the new baby will sleep. Our ds is a real sleepy head and has been amazing at going to bed and slept through from 10 weeks. No way will be that lucky again! Agh!!!

ErmagerdANerknerm · 15/09/2014 09:16

My first was an absolute breeze. Besides a bleed at around 6 weeks I had no sickness, no symptoms at all really and I worked in a very physical job up until I was 8 months.

This one has been pretty easy going too, had some evening sickness in the early days but that passed around 12 weeks, no other symptoms... barely felt pregnant some days. I am just under 28 weeks now and my bump has sprouted these past couple of weeks so I'm starting to get a bit achy around the belly if i'm on my feet for too long. Been very lucky I think.

Like ladyflower I'm worried about how this baby will compare to DD, who was such an easy going baby and was sleeping 8-8 from 12 weeks old, even when sick and teething. I really don't cope well with no sleep Grin

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 15/09/2014 09:19

Similar up until about 30 weeks. Sickness in the first 12 weeks, sort of symptomless til about 24/26 weeks then achey and tired.

However I hit week 30 (am now 34 weeks) and its all changed. Ive major pelvis pain, had spontaneous early labour which theyve stopped with drugs, had loads of braxton hicks (none of that with dc1) and generally am at a point where I cannot forsee this pregnancy getting to week 40. Im in today for a growth scan as docs are certain ill be dropping soon and want to know how big he is.

Frankly its cementend me never having another baby again!

Hope the labour is easier (24 hrs forceps delivery witb dc1)

Vicky5910 · 15/09/2014 09:20

First was super easy, hardly hindered me at all.
This time round, I am miserable! Sick first trimester, second was back to normal, now in third trimester I'm suffering every day :(

kittykatsforever · 15/09/2014 09:29

My first pregnancy was a breeze and I mean a breeze, no symptoms really at all never sick or heartburn etc I got cramp in my legs a few times but nothing else, good quick birth at 37wks, dd2 not quite so easy, not sick but felt nauseous for quite a few weeks, bled a few times, got spd although not horrendous and as she didn't come till 38+4 got piles litterally the week before she was born Confused still a good quick labour though so i would think that's probably something that might be similar each time, i did have two mc before dd2 though and one time felt so sick had to go home, it amazed me that I could feel that way when I had non first time so is obviously different with each pregnancy!
For the girls wondering, both mine are good sleepers, it can happen Wink
Do think second pregnancies are harder as you already have one therefore you don't have the luxury to relax and put your feet-up, your body has already been stretched and punished and no one is as sympathetic or bothered second time lol

LizzieMint · 15/09/2014 10:17

I had a horrible first pregnancy, sickness till 24 weeks, utter exhaustion till 36 weeks. It was hideous. Second pregnancy, I didn't have a single pregnancy symptom, I really wouldn't have known I was pregnant except for the massive belly. It was an absolute breeze.
Third pregnancy I breezed through as well until I got spd at 34 weeks, then it was a horrible, painful grind to the end.

Booboostoo · 15/09/2014 11:34

First pregnancy was crappy. Totally exhausted, sleeping 14 hours a day, muscle cramps all the time, mild HG, strong B-H, and back pain.
Second pregnancy was crappier. Worse HG, insomnia and tiredness, muscle cramps, strong B-H.

minipie · 15/09/2014 12:34

First pregnancy was not too bad symptom wise

Second pregnancy - feeling more tired, but I'm getting less sleep due to night waking toddler.

Nausea about the same - though I find eating more often helps stave it off, so I'm managing it better.

Boobs bigger quicker

Bump bigger quicker (I am showing at 11 weeks Shock)

No spotting/bleeding this time (yet)

Much less anxiety as 1) no bleeding 2) no time to worry

bronya · 15/09/2014 12:38

Definitely worse! Girl instead of boy though, so might be that. Worse PGP, much worse sickness, probably just as tired but less chance to sleep. Am hoping labour will be quicker (3 days last time from waters going to him arriving!!) and easier.

Siennasun · 15/09/2014 21:46

Thanks for all your responses - even though they are not all what I wanted to hear Wink

I hadn't even thought about the sleep issue - DS1 is nearly 2 and still not sleeping through. Not sure how I'll cope with another Sad

First pregnancy was a piece of cake.. second was hellish! Braxton hicks from 26weeks alongside going into early labour at 34 weeks which lasted up until 37 weeks when i was brought into hospital to be induced! Now 14 weeks into pregnancy no. 3 and it seems as though pregnancy gets worse each time!

ithoughtofitfirst · 15/09/2014 22:57

Really different. Completely different! First time absolutely textbook.

I had no morning sickness this time, was running up until 28 weeks then all went to pot at about 30 weeks; sickness, piles, prolapsed varicose veins, pelvic pain, painful BH, measuring several weeks bigger, millions of scans, constant monitoring....
