I have been getting stabbing shooting pains in the bottom right underside of my bump on and off today. really painful :( I am 20 weeks...is this normal?

I am getting them too :( I think it's stretching ligaments but it's very concerning with all the other crappiness I'm feeling.
I'd say call your midwife for reassurance if you want to, but I know I wouldn't bother calling mine. She's only about 12 years old and just tells me to call labour ward whatever I say to her...!

I had pains on the left and right side of my bump after sneezing and coughing in the second trimester - eventually my midwife told me that it was probably ligament pain (but not before she said that she couldn't stop me from sneezing - very helpful). Do you have a a maternity assessment centre or EPU you could contact if your midwife is less than helpful?

I just don't want to be a pain if it's normal haha. I'm guessing it's all part of it!

Round ligament pain... hurts like a bastard some of them. Just take it easy while they stretch a bit.

It's like the worst stitch you ever had? I get woken up most nights by it! If I get up and pee, it usually goes

MrsCK · 13/09/2014 21:04

Yup like really bad stitch...not nice!

It would seem that it's just yet another delightful symptom of growing a person! I'm coming back as a man in my next life!

Maternity belts can help. I just used the bogstandard one that looks like a thick piece of elastic. Gives your bump more support.

Loveallmyboys · 14/09/2014 17:52

Really? I had considered one actually. Where did you get yours from?

Donkle · 14/09/2014 20:42

I'm 24 and also having them sweetheart. They come and go and have for weeks, some times they leave for days before returning and I've forgotten I had them, google what they could be - and freak out.

It's all normal if it doesn't hurt enough to effect your movement or breathing. I even seem to get them in my foo foo sometimes - which is gross.
