Hi have 1st doctors appointment Monday.
Want to know where I'm planning on giving birth?? How am I meant to know lol. Has anyone used birthing centres away from hospitals? Advice??
Also I need to take a urine sample is that something I should do that morning or just when I get to doctors ask for a pot or what? Bit clueless/nervous and need advice basically

Thanks in advance

In my experience (and my area) the doctor does nothing other than ask you to make an appointment with the midwife. They've never tested to check I'm pregnant (neither has the midwife) and if asked where you want to give birth, just say you dont know and can they give you any information. You can call/visit birthing units and hospitals to see what you prefer. You don't need to decide just yet.
I had my first in hospital because I was induced but planning on having this one home. It really depends on where you live. Do you have any local friends who've experiences in your area?

Sorry, you can rake your own sample in something clean or just wait till you get there. No rights or wrongs.

In our area you don't need a doctors appointment. You just ask the receptionist at the doctors to make you a midwife appointment.

I wouldn't worry too much about having to make a definite decision at a first appointment. I changed my mind in my last pregnancy when I was over 30 weeks and it wasn't a problem. Also usually you can book a tour so you can decide once you have had a look round your options.
