Bras in pregnancy - advice please!

Hi ladies. Any bra fitting experts out there...?

I wore a 30DD or 32D pre-pregnancy, but the last couple of weeks I've felt my bra isn't fitting well so today I went to M&S for a fitting.

First question - is it okay to wear an underwired bra in pregnancy? They told me I absolutely can't, but I see Bravissimo say it's ok if it fits well?

Second, the fit... They measured me at a 38 back - I was shocked as I am in the same dress size I was before, just in mat styles, but she said I'm carrying high hence the increased back measurement. And then because of going up so much at the back, I ended up being sold a 38AA. So a change from 30DD to 38AA!

I felt this was odd, but I deferred to the expertise. But reading up on things tonight I think it's wrong... I just don't believe my back measurement is 8 inches bigger than pre-pregnancy.

So I'm pretty sure I need to return the M&S bra they sold me and go elsewhere for a second opinion - but where can I trust? Are Bravissimo or John Lewis good and recommended bra fitters? I was so disappointed in M&S that now I'm really wary.

The other option is I measure myself and just go shopping armed with my own measurements. Any advice on doing this well?

Would really appreciate any recommendations/advice before I embark on a bra hunt in London tomorrow!

Yup m&s are wrong, plain & simple!

One tip I got from debenhams, when I was fitted at about 15 weeks, was to make sure your new bra fits on the tightest hook (my debenhams mat bra had 4 hooks) as your rib cage will shift about & you will get bigger. That'll ensure you can wear the bra for longer throughout the pregnancy.

You may go up a back size: you won't go up 4!!!!!

Holy cow, I just followed the Good Bra Campaign fitting guide and have shot up from a 34D (pre-pregnancy M&S fitting) to a 36F! I am 10+2!

So I went out today armed with last night's self-measurements and plenty of time! Tried on about 20 bras and ended up with a few non-wired bras in 32D and a couple of wired bras (for certain outfits/occasions) in 32DD. So up one back size from pre-pregnancy, which feels much more sensible :) I was surprised, pleasantly, to find that in the right fit the non-wired ones felt like they have good support and they did feel more comfortable for whole-day wear at work and commuting etc. I ended up buying from M&S as I had vouchers to spend but certainly won't be using their fitting service again. Thanks everyone for all the guidance!

Avoid M&S bra fitters at all cost. They are useless. IME they measure your cup size when you've got your existing bra on??? How's that accurate? What if your existing bra is cutting you in two so they measurement they get is you in a crap bra, they put you in another crap bra.

From the age of 16 to 23 I was wearing a 38DD when actually I'm a 32G. I literally felt like I'd lost a stone when I tried only real size.

I'm 34 weeks and I've worn underwired throughout. My tits are fine because my bras actually fit.

Ps. You definitely have to try on bras as every cut and style can have a different shape.
