Hi, I'm 34+4 just seen the midwife and apparently the baby is back to back. She did tell me this at 30 weeks and I've been bouncing on my ball to try and move him.

Not worked as yet and I've got awful backache! Does carrying a baby back to back actually cause back ache in pregnancy as well as labour?

Didn't want to leave you with no responses....

I don't have "awful" backache, but do have a sore back at the end of each day. I'm 36 weeks with DC2 and she has just moved posterior. I think my backache is mainly due to being at the heavy, last-bit-of-pregnancy stage -plus sitting at a computer/lugging my 20 month old around all day. I still had backache prior to her moving posterior, so I'm not sure that's what is causing mine.

Im 39 weeks with a back to back baby and the consultant assures me he will turn (I have read that this is not always the case though). I find that the gym ball gives me backache and when Ive googled lots of people say its to do with posture and using muscles that we wouldnt normally use. I sometimes get backache if Ive done lots of walking but with the size of my belly thats no big suprise!

I am not sure if any back pain was caused by being back too back as opposed to just carrying all of that extra weight around. I spent the last four weeks of being pregnant sitting on the ball, never the couch or a chair) but he never turned. Hope you have more success with the ball, and best of luck with the baby!

I had bad back ache with both my back to backs, they also never turned.

I went to 41 weeks with a back to back baby and didn't experience any back pain until labour finally started. Sadly I didn't manage to turn her either despite bouncing and ironing and kneeling on the floor. Midwife said it might just be the shape of my pelvis. good luck!

Just to echo what others have said, my daughter was back to back. I did the sitting the way I was told, bouncing, walking, kneeling on the floor etc and she still didn't turn! I did find I had a lot of lower backache but I don't know if that was related.

The only thing I found annoying was when people found out she was back to back several have lectured me on what I must have done 'wrong'. As SunnyL said sometimes it is just the shape of your pelvis, my midwife said the same to me about pelvis shape.
