How did your baby's movements change?

I'm just coming up to 30 weeks. This is my first baby, everything has been ok so far and I've been feeling pretty relaxed about the whole pregnancy thing. The only thing I find I worry about are the baby's movements.

Last week I was getting poked on both sides of my bump - big heft kicks, and this week I'm still getting movements, but they are different. More kind of squirmy, less obvious kicks etc. higher up by my ribs. There hasn't been a reduction in movements, they are just different really - more movements than thumps and kicks.

I've tried looking online to see if there is any info on how the baby's movements change over the weeks as the baby grows and there is less room, but couldn't really find anything. I suppose I'm asking is this normal? Is it that the baby is in a different position? Can any ladies further along/more experienced off any advice/reassurance/tell me I'm being silly?

Im only 28 weeks but my midwife told me thr baby has less room to move over the next few weeks. So starts feeling more turning and pushing and less jabby if that makes sense. as long as movements havent reduced not to worry. But if you do start getting less movement give your midwife a phone for reassurances.

hi

I'm coming up to 38 weeks and my movements were exactly the same.
The baby just has less room they stretch more now to get comfy rather than bounce about kicking and punching. don't worry its perfectly normal

good luck Thanks Thanks

Thank you ladies! I'm pretty chilled out normally, the movement thing is the only thing that worries me. The baby is moving around as I type this - feeling much more reassured Smile

Count The Kicks gives good advice.
But basically yes, as they get bigger it gets less kick more wiggly. You still need to ensure you feel movement at least every few hours, and lie down with a cold drink for an hour to check if concerned. If you don't feel anything, call your mw.

That happened to me around the same time. I think it was partly position of baby (I think he moved so that his arms and legs were facing my back) and partly lack of space following a growth spurt. Now 38 weeks, and still feel occasional kicks, but most movements are just that, movements - like a rolling feeling or limbs bulging out rather than a hard kick. Think it's lack of room.
