Pregnancy after miscarriage

Hi all,

I recently had an erpc at 9 weeks with my second pregnancy due to a delayed miscarriage. I had a period 6 weeks later and then we tried after, using my previous 30 day cycle as a guide to when i would be fertile. I should then have had my period last sunday and am yet to start yet a test a day before and on my period due date and two days later showed i was not pregnant. Now 8 days and no period. Should i test again or could it be that i am not only not pregnant but there is a problem with ovulation, as in i didnt ovulate when i had that period?

I thought it was easier to get pregnant after an erpc and didnt realise there could be further complications. I was very fertile with my first baby and with the second that i lost so was really hopeful that it would work quite quickly. Any advise would be really appreciated!

Thanks so much

Hi sashajasmine. First of all- I'm sorry for your loss, I've had 2 mc's myself, and am now nearly 8 weeks pg. Try not to think that there is something wrong, it may just be that your cycle hasn't yet completely returned to normal. Try and give your body a chance to catch up with itself, although I know that's hard and that you want to try again as soon as possible. Although saying that, there is absolutely no harm in testing again with a pregnancy test! Just try and relax. Remember, you can have a false negative, so maybe try visiting your go for a blood test to get a more realistic answer? Good luck x

Your periods can be rather uneven for several cycles after a loss, it's just how it is. So it isn't likely to be a 'problem'. Mine varied after each of my losses 22-29 days over 3 months, my body was just getting back into the flow of things.

I would definitely test though just in case, my test this pregnancy (now 39 weeks) didn't get positive till a few days after I was due on.

Thank you both so much, it really helps to know it doesn't mean anything is necessarily wrong. Thank you

Will test and see. Any idea of how best to capture when i am fertile, do the clear blue ovulation sticks work well?

Thank you sashajasmine Thanks I myself haven't used the clear blue ovulation but I'm guessing it's probably good, due to their other products working well. You could give it a try, but id definately visit your gp for a blood test too! Hopefully someone on here has used clear blue and can tell you more about that. Good luck, keep trying and testing, but don't wear yourself down. Let us know! X

Hi ladies. I called and spoke to the nurse at my gp today and she said that it could be that it takes a few months for my cycle to get back to normal and advised me to do a test first thing tomo, if still negative then again in a weeks time, if not then a blood test and if not pregnant still with that test and no period then i will have to go to the early pregnancy unit. Xxx

Hi again sashajasmine. Glad you have informed us- now focus on not worrying and follow your gp's instructions. Hopefully it won't get as far as having to go the EPU. Everyone's cycles are different and some take longer adjusting back to regular timings than others. Wishing you the best x
