Have I got Hyperemesis Gravidarum or just Fatigue?

So I really don't want to google things as I would be looking forever- I would rather listen to some real stories from real ladies on here! So I'm currently nearly 8 weeks, after 2 previous early mc's. Had an early scan due to spotting, turns out I have a small haematoma. So besides that, at the scan it showed my baby was there with a strong heartbeatSmile Since I found out if was pg, around 3 weeks ago, I have been extremely ill on and off. And when I say off, I mean there's been a couple of days when I have managed to put some food in oven, and managed to drag myself to work to sit down all day. Is this normal? I feel very blessed and understand that these symptoms are normal, but I feel like if I could, i
would definately sleep, or at least lie down throughout pregnancy. I'm drinking plenty, and also eating but have gone off so many foods, I feel like smells are now 100% stronger and make me feel even more sick. I have barely done any housework and am forcing myself to get out of bed, and even then it's a struggle. I feel I'm completely drained. I have to do the food shopping later and I'm dreading it. From having to do my makeup, to choosing what to wear, to driving and the rest! Anyone else the same??

Sorry you are feeling so bad Rosy. Unfortunately that is just early pregnancy for many people. Hopefully you will start to feel better soon. Take care of yourself. Hyperemesis Gravidarum is more severe.

For example at 8 weeks I was vomiting approx 20-30 times a day, had passed out twice and developed shingles as so run down. It was grim. It's only the thought of being pg again that's making me delay DC2.

Oh originalusernamefail that sounds awful - so sorry. I was scared I was going to get angry HG sufferers tell me I'm being silly, but I'm glad you have posted. I had a feeling it would be a lot more severe. Yes I suppose the only thing I have developed from being run down is a couple of cold sores! Each day is a blessing but I cannot wait to feel better. Thanks for your support and I hope any of your future pregnancies aren't as filled with illness as your first Thanks

If you can drink and eat (albeit a limited diet), I think you've probably got bad but "normal" morning sickness too. I had this with DC1 - I had nothing to compare it too, and it was awful feeling constantly nauseous and sometimes (once or twice a day) being sick. But I could just about function, dragging myself into work and even to the odd social event, although I felt dreadful.

The 2 HG pregnancies I've had have been horrific - near constant vomiting in the early days - even a sip of water could make me sick - in a clinically relevant way (I.e. I needed drugs and treatment on a drip to avoid dehydration). Any movement at all (turning my head, watching TV) triggered wrenching and vomiting.

But bad morning sickness is still absolutely horrid, so you have my sympathy. The good news is that in my "normal morning sickness" pregnancy I felt right was rain by 14 weeks (HG lasted far far longer).

Hi, I'm 8 weeks as well and feel exactly the same. Basically, any kind of smell is just pukey, I've gone off most things apart from crappy stuff like beans on toast, fish fingers, potato waffles etc. Fruit is ok, yoghurt just about but otherwise, it's ginger biscuits, crackers, salt and vinegar crisps or boiled sweets. As for the fatigue - snap. I actually couldn't get out of bed last week. I just walked a few paces and was huffing and puffing, feeling very lightheaded. This week, I've had the headache from hell as well as the constant nausea and am just miserable with it. I feel so blessed to be pg but cannot WAIT to feel a bit better. I've lost the impetus to do anything!

I suffered with this badly imagine a stomach bug where as soon as u take a sip of water you throw it back up, you can't keep anything down to the point of collapsing.

Hi somesunnysunday and jemima1988 HG does sound absolutely awful, I couldn't imagine feeling worse than this so my sympathy is definately with both of you! Hi abibanbury nice to speak to you, with being at the same stage as me! You sound exactly the same as me, certain flavours of crisps I can handle, potato waffles, biscuits, and dairylea Dunkers! One day I was so bad I had been at work for an hour and a half and the left and stayed in bed all day. I hate feeling so useless but my body can't do much else! I was in bed today (watching telly, just about awake!) until around 1pm. I am now dressed and trying to syke myself up to go food shopping Sad. I'm also aching from being in bed constantly! I hope it settles down around the 12 week mark, for me and you both x

God, I can't imagine what HG must be like. You have my sympathy somesunnysunday and jemima1988. Roseylee20, if you can face it, try a walk. I dragged myself out yesterday and even though I felt like I was walking through treackle the whole time while feeling sick, I did actually feel a lot better afterwards. Roll on the end of morning sickness!!!

Roseylee20 · 09/09/2014 15:51

Hi @abibanbury, me neither. Like I said I couldn't imagine feeling any worse than this so I really have sympathy with HG sufferers. I'm currently at work, my first day back at this job for a week and I feel awful. I only work 2.30-7pm today but I am counting down the seconds! I've just had my lunch, not in the usual lunch place but just next to my locker as I haven't got the energy to go up to the cafe! Sad I really hope this gets better soon Sad

Hang in there! I'm self employed and haven't earned myself a penny over the last few weeks. It's shocking. But I do recognise that I have the luxury of choosing. I feel for you having to stick it out at work. No fun at all.

Roseylee20 · 09/09/2014 16:59

Thanks again, it is hard but it also must be hard for you with not being able to earn anything. At my first midwife app tomorrow, if I still feel like the same I'm going to ask about the ins and outs of being signed off from work for a couple of weeksSad didn't really want it to come to that x
