When did your pregnancy start feeling physically hard work?

I'm 19 weeks today and for the first time I feel pregnant in a bad way! I had morning sickness etc in the first trimester and then starting feeling human again at 12 weeks. Today my fingers and feet have swelled up in the heat, my stomach is giving me all sorts of period type pains, I feel cumbersome and uncomfortable. I'm hoping this is a passing phase, some kind of growth spurt.

When did you start feeling uncomfortable?

First time about 30 weeks, working full time, stressful job etc. this time 37 weeks, toddler but working part time. A passing phase for you I'm sure!

allisgood1 · 06/09/2014 18:49

I can't remember with the first two other than I went on mat leave around 36 weeks with 1, 34 weeks with 2. Number 3 it was 36 weeks again and I was feeling it (breathlessness, exhaustion, etc).

Missingcaffeine · 06/09/2014 18:58

I felt awful weeks 6-9 in every way possible, sickness eased but still felt knackered most of the time 9-16, still not fantastic but okay weeks 16-24.

I then hit a good bit for 10 weeks (about 24-34 weeks) when I did actually enjoy being pregnant. Energy came back. Apart from feeling a bit big and a bit of indigestion, was pretty well and enjoyed life again.
34 weeks onwards it's started to be hard again and got harder with each week.
Everyone is so so different though. I think I've had a worse than average pregnancy experience.

I had odd days throughout where I felt particularly huge and uncomfortable. Some days around your time were worse than they are now at 38 weeks.
Good luck! Hope you feel better soon.

I didn't with my first (v small bump and weight gain - all him he eats like crazy).
I'm 21 weeks with dc 2 and feeling it today esp with cramps, crying, tired and heartburn. But hoping it's a phase made worse by dc1 starting nursery and being whingey and clingy all day.

beccajoh · 06/09/2014 19:01

First time from the get go. Utterly exhausting, relentless nausea, SPD. Second pregnancy was comparatively easy. Only became harder once the bump started to really get in the way after about 30 weeks.

Nononon · 06/09/2014 19:03

Probably when I got to about 40 weeks last time that I started to really struggle physically. The worst thing was at night trying to get comfortable. Didn't pop until 42 weeks.
Am 28 weeks now and feel fine but much bigger than last time!!

cookielove · 06/09/2014 19:05

I went on holiday to America at 25 - 27 weeks, on my return I really struggled with work. I planned on working till the 12th of September. My boss knew I was struggling and was trying to evict me from work Hmm I started dropping down days using holiday to reduce my hours. I work in a day nursery, 3 months - 20 months in a very busy room. As it was lo decided he had enough and I went into premature labour at 34 weeks.

He is now 3 weeks and 3 days old!

ithoughtofitfirst · 06/09/2014 20:46

28 weeks i couldn't run anymore. 30 weeks for me though and getting worse every day. I'm 35 weeks and feel totally useless because i can't do really simple things with my toddler, for example lying on th floor colouring so had to sit at the table but then i couldn't breathe and my arse got sore because i've got piles this time Blush

I could moan all day!

monkeyfacegrace · 06/09/2014 20:51

At conception.

Hth.

ohthegoats · 06/09/2014 22:34

Last week - so 36 weeks. I'm a primary school teacher and I had forgotten over the summer holidays just how physical my job is. Was fine in July, was still running and playing rounders with the kids, now I'm struggling to get through the day. I did a lot of DIY type work over the summer - boxing in wardrobes even, but I could do it at my own pace quite slowly. Having to run around after 7 year olds is harder! Two more weeks left until I can sit down.

Boobsofsteel · 06/09/2014 22:41

First time about 30 wks. This time not until today at 38 weeks. The braxton hicks have been murdering me tonight but is was swimming with toddler DD this morning and running around at playgroup yesterday Grin

pippinleaf · 07/09/2014 07:09

Hmmm. It seems 19 weeks is too soon to be feeling this! I'm a primary teacher too and just did first week back so maybe weekend should be rest time rather than busy chasing around days. My head teacher doesn't want parents or children to know I'm pregnant so trying to hold tummy in and dress in a disguising way is another challenge! Thank you for all your responses.

Hi pippinleaf I originally commented to share my experience and say, even tho I am only 7+5 now, since I
Found out 2/3 weeks ago I have had all day long nausea, sickness, aching, fatigue and more. Hoping it eases by around 12 weeks! Hope you are feeling ok and hopefully it's just a phase for you. I have just seen your latest post, and I really want to ask why the head teacher doesn't want to let on that you are pregnant? I hope you're not trying to disguise too much! After all it is a blessing and you shouldn't have to worry or stress about covering it up or sucking in- I'm sure there's a good reason. good luck though with the rest of your pregnancy x

Sleepyhoglet · 07/09/2014 19:33

I'm 23 weeks now and feeling so huge already, can't use my stomach muscles, back aching, insomnia, leg cramps, can't believe there is another 17 weeks of this to go!!

Bellyrub1980 · 07/09/2014 21:26

30 weeks. Tummy muscles stopped working. Suddenly everything became an effort. 3 weeks later and still haven't learned to pace myself!!

BumpOct2014 · 07/09/2014 21:28

I'm also a primary teacher but I'm 33 weeks tomorrow (only 6 weeks to go!)

I found last week VERY hard even though the kids were only in school three days. I had found the last week or two of the hols hard but it's easier when you're off as you can take things easier. No matter what we say, it's hard to take it easy in school.

I think we all forget how hard the first few weeks of the autumn term are, nevermind when you're pregnant!

Pregnantagain7 · 07/09/2014 22:01

I'm 35 weeks and it's become very hard work in the last week I have three other children and my youngest is one tomorrow so I'm going to have a small age gap. I'm also having a big baby and am measuring 42cms so I'm huge, lifting and carrying my youngest is getting very very hard and I'm knackered!

CatFaceCrayola · 07/09/2014 22:10

I felt sick until 12 weeks, crazy from 12-21 weeks. Have been on summer holiday 20-27 weeks, have still been struggling though.

heaven help me from tomorrow!! Back to school. ..also a primary teacher. 8 working weeks to go!

CatFaceCrayola · 07/09/2014 22:11

And out of curiosity. ..why is your head being so secretive??

thatsn0tmyname · 07/09/2014 22:15

The last two months were hard, especially when chasing a toddler across the park. Rolling over in bed was an effort in the last month

Missingcaffeine · 08/09/2014 11:12

I was knackered until about 24 weeks, then it returned at 34.
Throughout the whole pregnancy, I have not been able to do what I would normally do. I managed to work long hours and commute but only by resting in evenings, having early nights and doing very little at weekends. You are growing a baby! Be easy on yourself!!
