Anyone have any tips for easing it a bit? I've really struggled today :(

I've tried ginger biscuits and lemon&ginger tea, they came back up. I've been eating little bits here and there but nothing is staying down and I've got no energy. Have slept most of this evening and every time I wake up I feel groggy and sick.

I know there's no real remedies but am hoping someone founds something that helps even if it's only a bit!

Are you craving anything at all?I have found ginger ale and ready salted crisps, having a window open near me at all times and regular small nibbles/sips of things to be best.I feel your pain but hopefully the worst of it will pass soon!

GetTheRedOut · 04/09/2014 22:40

Not really craved anything. It feels like everything I eat, I can only manage once. Once I've had it and thrown it up I can't even look at it again. Thanks Biff, I'll get some ginger ale tomorrow and see how that goes.

It's rubbish isn't it?
If I even drank water it came back up again :(
I found ice pops/ lollies quite good as they kept me hydrated without having to swallow large amounts of liquid (and if all else fails they taste okay coming back up!!)
In the end the dr gave me tabs that dissolved on my gum as I couldn't even hold down anti sickness tablets. Keep asking for help from your dr. I wish I had been more assertive.

RubySparks · 04/09/2014 22:52

I think I drank lucozade, maybe not too healthy but it helped. I didn't want to take tablets from gp but 4/5 months in and I was begging for tablets.

GetTheRedOut · 04/09/2014 22:56

I don't want to go to the doctor about the sickness just yet, feel like I need to try harder, if that makes sense?

It's grim. I'm 25 weeks and have been on anti sickness medication continuously since about 8 weeks. Also been hospitalised twice with dehydration. Are you managing to keep fluids down?

Molly333 · 04/09/2014 23:01

All I could eat was mashed potato , I lost two stone in the first two months , hypremisus graviardum !

Sapat · 04/09/2014 23:02

I had terrible all day morning sickness for my three, my second was so bad I had to be admitted into hospital as I was vomiting blood. I personally found ginger useless. I did wear the bracelets but they also felt ineffective.

For DD the only thing I could stand to eat was crunchy apples and pop corn.
For both DSs it was salty or salt & vinegar crisps, especially Walkers French Fries.
Mint tic tacs also helped a little as did ice cold lemon or orange squash. And Lipton ice tea (also cold). Also not too bad when it all comes back up.

Try Ranitadine. Prescribed for heartburn but I found that I stopped vomiting quite so much once I started taking it. Also take Gaviscon after eating or when you feel nauseous. It doesn't really stop the vomiting but it stops it from burning quite so much when it comes back up. The worst things to vomit are lettuce, mushrooms and curry.

Hope it gets better soon!

As the posters above show, this is entirely normal.

Eat whatever you can. Honestly. You won't harm the baby. Baby will take what it needs from your stores. Try to stay hydrated and allow yourself extra sleep. I hear hulahoops are popular. I ate lots and lots of cheese.

Massive congratulations.

ChickenMe · 05/09/2014 13:41

I've had nausea, reflux and the vilest taste from morning till night. Bless my oh he was like "maybe you've got a stomach bug as you're only meant to feel sick in the morning". Haha.
All I can recommend is mint tea, ice lollies and potatoes

ZebraZeebra · 05/09/2014 17:39

You poor thing. I'm just coming out of this at 14 weeks. Now it's only between 5pm and bed time Hmm It was so bad. It was like food poisoning for 3 months. Combined with an awful jet lag feeling, bad taste in mouth, dizziness, instant need to lie down and generally just feeling so ill.

Nothing helped. Every time I thought i'd found a solution, the next day it turned my stomach. I was never ill like this with DS. It has honestly completely poleaxed me.

I think for most people it eases as you get more towards the second trimester. I felt so ill MIL had to come and stay for a week to help me look after DS because I just wasn't able to function. How many weeks are you? I think also the whole secrecy thing before 12 weeks makes it so much worse - you're going through feeling so ill in secret! You can't even cry and moan to anyone - it's a special kind of torture.

ColdTeaAgain · 05/09/2014 20:29

Had horrendous all day sickness with DD. As Zebra said, I would find something I could keep down one day and be so happy that I could eat something and then be chucking it up the next, it was just bloody miserable!

The main things I found I could cope with at the peak of it were salty crisps like hula hoops and fruit pastels. Looking back, I don't think I kept myself hydrated enough which I doubt helped things but it's so hard when even water makes you urge!

Don't be afraid to go to GP about it if it gets really bad. Some people tend to have a bit of a "man up" attitude to morning sickness but those people have clearly never experienced how awful it can get!

Hope it eases up for you soon!

GetTheRedOut · 06/09/2014 14:39

Every time I thought i'd found a solution, the next day it turned my stomach. exactly this happening with every thing! I'm so tired :( we have DP's DD here this weekend and she wants me to play and get involved in the activities like I usually do (last week we told her it was food poisoning from mcd's Grin) but all I want to do is go to bed and lie down.

what vitamins are u on? i was on some and made me bed ridden with sickness then came off and was much better - only need folic acid really.

oh and milk!!! takes the edge off but no nesquik powder as it has a vitamin u cant have dont rem which. im 9 wks and know its gonna pass soon

Lottiedoubtie · 06/09/2014 16:00

6 weeks and been going on 2 weeks? I'm sorry OP but that points at you being in for the long haul. It is shite, but it isn't your fault and you aren't being weak.

I was anti meds in pregnancy and held out taking them until I was 12ish weeks. That was a massive mistake

All the evidence suggests that early intervention with anti-emetics is important for improving quality of life.

Please do go to your GP and pop over to the Hypermesis support thread where there is loads of good advice and links to help you decide the best way to play it for you.

GetTheRedOut · 06/09/2014 16:38

I've got pregnacare so am taking those each day but struggling to keep anything down really so I don't know how much I'm getting out of it. The first week of it wasn't so bad, I didn't realise I was preg and just slept a lot but this last week gone it's got so much worse, I think because I've realised it's gonna go on for months and I can't just sleep the whole time

OP posts:
GetTheRedOut · 06/09/2014 16:39

I'm really hoping it's bit hype remedies, that sounds completely horrendous

OP posts:
GetTheRedOut · 06/09/2014 16:39

*not hyperemesis

OP posts:
Lottiedoubtie · 06/09/2014 17:11

I hope it isn't too! And it's probably too early for you to get a diagnosis of Hypermesis (it's generally a diagnosis of exclusion ifyswim) but the advice is still applicable, you've definitely got severe vomiting and nausea in pregnancy.

daisydee43 · 06/09/2014 21:19

yes i was on pregnacare too. try a day without them and u should notice the difference as i did and if so replace them with plain folic acid cant explain the difference

Roseylee20 · 07/09/2014 07:46

Hi everyone I can relate to most of you.. I am only 7+5 but found out when I was around 5 weeks. In fact I can pinpoint when I suddenly 'fell ill'. I was in Asda with my partner and literally all of a sudden a wave of nausea came over me and I suddenly desperately needed a drink and to lie down, I felt awful and this went on for a good 2 weeks. Id like to say it's settled down but some days are just better than others. I don't really have the energy to go 2 work and feel like I am pushing my partner away as I literally can sometimes lie on the sofa and not even speak, and most days I can't manage to even cook dinner Sad

GetTheRedOut · 07/09/2014 08:04

Ha Rosey, I was in tesco the first time I got sick. Must be something about supermarkets! Same too about the cooking. DP is a chef so he cooks most often but on Sundays I usually do us a dinner. The last two weeks though I've not managed it and I doubt I will today. The smells :(

I hope your partners being supportive, it's not exactly pushing them away through choice is it? I'm finding if he touches anywhere on my torso it seems to set me off!

OP posts:
Roseylee20 · 07/09/2014 08:11

Must be a supermarket thing! Ever since then u have clung to a bottle of flavoured water/juice and don't feel right if I haven't got a drink with me- just incase the nausea wipes me out again! Yes I am so sensitive to smells too- cigarette smoke I cannot stand and my partner smokes- although not in our home thank goodness. He is supportive but I just feel as I've been ill and in bed a lot he feels pushed out which I know generally men tend to play on that a bit! But sometimes I just feel very alone in all of this. It's a much longed for baby so it's not nice feeling like this! X

Thecircle · 07/09/2014 08:17

I was sick until week 31, ds came at 34 weeks Confused

I can't even look at a ginger biscuit now, I was anti sickness meds for a while but was wary of taking them.

Literally everything I ate came back up.

Nothing helpful to add but I have sympathy Thanks
