I'm pregnant with dc2 and really struggling with pain in what feels like the bone behind my genitals, it feels like I have been kicked really hard or bruised. The baby isn't even head down yet so I don't think it's pressure, I'm just so fed u, it hurts to sit/walk or even lie in bed :(

Has anyone experienced this? With my first pregnancy I didn't have anything like this.

Sounds like pgp (pelvic girdle pain) or spd (symphis pubis dysfunction). Think they are subtly different, but both are basically your pelvis falling apart showing strain. It should resolve after birth as the weight of baby is gone and your ligaments start to strengthen again. Try to keep your knees close together in moving eg in or out of car/bed. A pelvic support belt may help though I find them annoying, others swear by them. Serola is the best imo.

Sorry I havent a solution! Its horrible, my pelvis grates front and back, its crap. I'm also 33 weeks, think we have to count down. Hope it eases for you...

Sounds just like my pain, and I had a diagnosis of SPD from the midwife. If you ask the midwife at your 34 weeks appointment, she should refer you for a group physio appointment.
I thought it was lip service, but the pelvic floor and other exercises have really helped.

Also I find avoiding lengthy walks, too many stairs, standing on one leg or the other and always moving both legs when getting in and out of bed or a car together minimises the symptoms.
The best thing I found was sitting on a yoga ball took the pressure off the pelvis and relieves symptoms.

Good luck! xxx

Also I should mention that the physiotherapist said not to use a girdle belt unless told by a professional and fitted by one, as (a) they actually weaken your muscles, and (b) they can hold your pelvis in the wrong place and make it worse! xxx

I'm also 33 weeks and have the same pain. Some days are good but then there are days/evenings where I could cry from pain..

Our bedroom is on the second floor so can't avoid the steps.
And I have a 12 month old son who just started to bum shuffle last week. Can't walk on his own!
So glad that I have a supportive DH. As he brings DS to bed in the evening! He took a day off work today because today is one of the bad days again!

It's SPD unfortunately. My MW wasn't that interested.
Personally I have responded well to acupuncture but others don't.
I have also been advised to get referred for physio/ hydrotherapy.

Had a massage today and interestingly, the therapist says a decent sports massage can help too which will ease the muscles in the glutes which affect the hip area

Oh no, I was hoping it was a temporary thing :( we live on the 4th floor with no lift and I have to walk 3/4km a day to take ds to nursery and to go to my classes (I'm a student)

Does it get worse? Does it get worse when the head becomes engaged?

Thank you for sharing your information.

It is supposed to go post partum, but you really should consider a referral (my midwife was also slow to respond as i have had this pain since 12 weeks, but only got referred a few weeks ago, after i demanded it) as it makes a huge difference having it!

You need to consider taking it easy - what is happening is the relaxin hormone relaxes the join in your pelvis, so it becomes less stable and consequently hurts. You can't walk it off etc, you need to seek advice and/or try to reduce some of your physical effort. xxx

I had this and it was not spa or pgp. It was pressure from the baby stretching and moving. 38 weeks baby is now head down, ironically more comfortable!
