Ok so last night I tested positive, and tested positive again this morning. So happy Smile rang docs but can't fit me in to see midwife for 4 weeks Hmm

So ladies, what do I need to do? I've been taking folic acid Grin

Arghhh I feel like I'm not prepared for this but my heart sure is.

Getting quite bad cramps/pains lower stomach and constantly need a wee haha

Tbh I found it a bit of an anticlimax, you take folic acid and check out the list of foods to avoid on the nhs website. Then wait to see your midwife (around 8 weeks) and get booked for a scan at around 12 weeks.

Oh and most importantly enjoy it!

Clairejessicamiller · 30/08/2014 12:23

It's a bit of a waiting game I afraid. I saw the midwife at 8 weeks and got my scan a week on Monday at 13 weeks. The time gap seems like it's going on forever. Just try and stay healthy and active if you feel up to it.

Jaffakake · 30/08/2014 13:03

As per pp really.

Really you're just welcomed to the waiting game that is pregnancy! By 9 months you'll be fed up of waiting & dying yo get on with the rest of your life!

Take folic acid. Read up on the 'rules' & decide if you agree! Enjoy fitting into your jeans for as long as it lasts!

Last night I had a huge argument with my partner. We hardly ever argue so I feel awful. My body is so weak and I'm barely sleeping. Been getting pains in my stomach so I keep worrying about my pregnancy??? Does anyone else feel not themselves and arguing over nothing. Crying over nothing Confused

The best advice I can give you is to find something that will occupy your mind for the next few months. The first 12 weeks are the slowest, possibly slower because some women (like me) choose not to tell anyone till the scan and blood results are clear. So.... Occupy your mind and AVOID GOOGLE AT ALL COSTS!! Especially when it comes to the various symptoms you'll get. And you'll get quite a few!

I had period type pains on off all the way up to around 20 weeks. Still get them now very occasionally and I'm 32 weeks now. I put mine down to stretching pains.

Feeling emotional and 'hormonal' is also pretty common. I became ultra needy in the first few months. Looking back now I think I just needed reassurance everything would be okay.

Tiredness is also very normal I'm afraid!

Congratulations, I really enjoyed my pregnancy till about week 30. It's amazing how your body takes over and does all this stuff! I'm not enjoying it quite so much now but that's more work/stress related.

Elledouble · 31/08/2014 10:57

Congratulations - got my BFP on Friday and can totally identify. I'm glad the periody cramps seem to be normal, every time I went to the loo yesterday I expected to see blood Sad.

Good luck with everything!

MooMaid · 31/08/2014 11:01

Avoid Google at all costs!! Every symptom you have will somehow link back to MC and whilst this has obviously happened to lots of women there are far more it hasn't happened to who just don't bother posting 'I got X,Y,Z and I'm still pregnant'. Dr Google makes you worry more.

Rest, take folic acid, and wait.... that's all you can do right now!

Annarose2014 · 31/08/2014 11:10

Lizzy you will probably be a bit of a basket case for some weeks to come. Be nice to yourself, and explain it to your partner. Its an emotionally vunerable time.

I told my partner that my hormones were going to be going off in all directions and he was immensely sympathetic. I still tried to control myself though, you may feel like crying over everything but it'll make you feel worse if you do!

Cramping is pretty common at this point. Knowing that does little to calm your fears though. I was petrified until after 12 weeks, tbh. The first trimester is no fun whatsoever, tbh. Its boring, exhausting, nauseating and frightening.

Lizzy86 · 31/08/2014 12:27

Thanks everyone. Really cheered me up reading your comments. No more google for me Smile

Make sure you take vitamin D as well as Folic acid, it is very important. Even better but a good pregnancy multi vitamin. They have to be pregnancy vitamins as you can't take vitamin A.

SoonToBeSix · 31/08/2014 12:44

Buy not but.

Lizzy86 · 31/08/2014 13:04

Yep got my pregnacare multi vits Grin

Congratulations lizzy! Have you worked out roughly when you are due? In the ante natal topic there will probably be a due in may (i am guessing) thread with lots of ladies in the same boat.

Lizzy86 · 31/08/2014 14:36

I'm due around May yes but not too sure Smile and thank you

Cramps are perfectly normal, I'm pregnant with my 2nd and had forgotten how bad they were and how sensitive your belly is to touch.
Our midwives don't see you until 8 weeks when you've missed 2 periods so it's a case of waiting and it really drags!

Just take it easy, rest because you'll be knackered and enjoy planning. I found it'll all very surreal and unbelievable until she was born.

Lizzy86 · 31/08/2014 16:26

Yes I'm planning a nice warm bath, chocolate and an early night tonight. Thanks ladies Smile

rockstars12 · 31/08/2014 18:08

Don't have the bath too warm, it's not recommended during pregnancy, so saunas and hottubs are out to. Something to do with not heating your blood and body temperature up too much. To be honest I became ridiculously overheated pretty quickly, so can't stand anything warm.
I remember I checked every time I wiped for the first 2 months and constantly freaked out. The tiredness was insane, I slept so much and you may be lucky and escape the dreaded morning sickness. I however didn't, and it hasn't stopped yet. Do get help if you feel too bad.
Just enjoy! Distract yourself by window/Internet shopping at purchases you might like to make. Only you can gauge when you feel comfortable to buy stuff, despite all the old wives tales, a few excited purchases early on will not affect your pregnancy. Look out for sale bits, asos have maternity clothes and in the clearance section of next, they too have good selection of items reduced, you could always buy some ahead of time. I did, saved me a fortune as when I really needed it there weren't any sales on and I've gone through several sizes already.
Oh and a MASSIVE congratulations! X

Lizzy86 · 31/08/2014 19:35

Thanks rockstar12 I will bare the warm baths in mind, good point. Your words have made me smile thank you Grin
