Growth Scan booked for 34 weeks - currently 15 weeks!

Just wondering if anyone can help me work out why I am having a growth scan.
I had a complicated delivery last time, not to do with the size of baby, so this time have opted for an elective C-section.
I am currently 15 weeks pregnant and this morning received a letter with an appointment for a growth scan, in Jan, and an appointment with the 'antenatal team'. I have a couple of other appointments with the antenatal team which I assumed were to do with c-section.
However, I do also have a high BMI. So I wondered if it could be to do with this. It seems unlikely though as I was the same weight with my daughter, with no additional care, and also my midwife does not consider my pregnancy to be high risk, according to my notes.
I hope this makes sense. I would appreciate any info that people may have about this.
Thanks in advance
Xx

I am 31 weeks pg and havent been offered a growth scan, however a friend who is due the same day (same antenatal care trust) has been invited for one, and her letter came around the same time as your would have.

Whilst we both had BMIs of over 30, hers is rather higher than mine (and she has been monitored closely for high BP) so I had assumed that was the reason.

Hi. I have had this and it is related to bmi. If you carry a little more weight (I carry an awful lot more weight I promise you) then they don't take fundus height readings by the midwife as accurate for size checking so they do this automatically. Good luck with the pg xx

Although they should have told you why they were doing it. My hospital have been very honest with me about stuff around bmi. Possibly because at my first appointment when they said 'you do have a slightly increased bmi' I answered by saying I would rather you just said I was fat - I'm not an idiot.

Thanks for your help. It seems is probably to do with BMI then rather than C-section. My blood pressure is always pretty low and I have no other health issues. So I'm guessing if it's not standard for C-section then it's probably weight related.
Tbh I have only had one midwife appointment and 12 week scan and there was no mention of BMI, I'd just worked it out myself. You are right, there is a definite lack of communication.

Yes bmi over a certain level (or under a certain level too) is supposted to get you a growth scan and a GTT blood test.

I have high BMI and considered an old mum at 37 so I had a growth scan booked at 16 weeks for week 32.

High BMI can lead to bigger babies, older age can also do so, have you crossed into the older age category since your first baby?

Bubba is on the large size so I have had 2 growth scans now at 36 weeks and am due back in at 38 weeks to plan the next steps!!
